I would like to make a syrup using distillate. What can I do at home to make it absorb very quickly (fast-acting)? Also, how can I ensure that the extract mixes evenly with the syrup so that the active ingredient concentration is consistent throughout the entire product?
Can I simply infuse an already prepared syrup?
I’ve read quite a bit about nanoemulsions and that they are supposedly difficult to make at home. However, most of the information I’ve found is from 2020 or earlier.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thank you very much!
What you are asking for is to be spoon fed information on a very specific topic you have already identified as technically difficult.
That don’t fly around here. I mean you just say basically “Stable Syrup” with no specifics about it at all. What kind of syrup? Sweet, sugar free, concentrate? Flavors? How many milligrams total/per serving/serving size.
Do you even have an idea for a product other than “syrup”?
You need to do more research and when you come to a specific roadblock that is not another obvious R&D step come back here with the details.
The research you’ve done, the methods you have actually tried, etc.
I could tell you how to make that product no problems, no special equipment, just an excipient that makes oil based API’s water soluble that anyone can buy online.
But people get paid 10’s of thousands of dollars for things like that and I don’t want to give away MY secret sauce (hint - it’s not so secret, literally off the shelf).
Not trying to be the heavy here, but you’ll get more response with novel problems that have not been solved dozens of times in dozens of ways.
Syrups are used heavily in traditional pharmaceutical applications, start there.
This is a good starter recipe. You can use corn syrup, glucose syrup, invert sugar syrup etc instead of the honey if you wish. The shelf life with emulsions like this isn’t super long but it works well.
Ignore this person if you are a nice person. He’s the epitome of a miserable armchair scientist who’s jealous of anyone who has accomplished anything. He wants people to wallow in his pit of misery with him, and i routinely call him out on this b.s. attitude. People like him just enjoy being mean to strangers, there’s something deeply wrong with his worldview
Why are you so obsessed with stability? What is your end goal with this idea? Most emulsions aren’t stable in long term storage unless they are in very specific conditions(inert, dry, frozen, etc.). You especially won’t achieve long term shelf stability from an emulsion in aqueous mediums without using multiple synthetic additives. You may want to look more into dry formats and/or a system where the infusion of said product only occurs right before consumption
Then look into making liquid nanoemulsions. A proper nanoemulsion will mix in easily to a premade syrup and be stable for 6+ months. Lots of resources on nano tech available on this site.
