Lenticular filters

Look into millipore pod filter holders. No electrical, just compressed air. Works like a charm.

Those would be great for color remediation and polish but fear they are way too expensive for wax filtering. Them and a couple of other pharma companies we have looked at for high grade filtration. There is some cool stuff out there.

I’ve switched to the activated carbon lenticular filters from Pall and they are kick ass. great solution to avoid the time consumption of carbon scrub.

do you have throughput numbers you’re willing to share?

These guys might have what you’re looking for if you’re wanting to go bigger.

Is anybody running .45 micron, w/o staging, inline after cryo etoh?

Omg 0.45um no staging sounds dreadful. At least put a 5um first

Hello All, I’m jumping into this discussion about lenticular filters very late. We joined only a few weeks (month) ago. We have been working with particulate rated and carbon lenticular filters for over 25 years now and might be a good reference for anyone working or thinking about working with them. We started selling them into this industry about 2 years ago and have had very good results. A few things I saw in browsing through some of the comments. We have two types of particulate lenticulars, one is designed for backwash, the other is not. Also you can wash in the forward flow position as well, we can share our method. In addition we work with filter elements, capsules, bag filters, hardware and flat media for this industry as well. Thank you Greg

Hi Extractepic, if you would like to look at options for carbon lenticular filters, we have them as well. image
Thanks, Greg

really dependent on how you’re extracting and potency of material. i’d be happy to share suggestions with anyone via PM.

Got a website I can order through?

Hi Coppertop, not yet, working on it. You can call us or email to further the conversation and get a quote. Can you send your email? Greg, 310-212-7777 gregh@heyesfilters.com

If you guys need a good pump for your Lenticular, we have pumps for cold ethanol. We partnered with our Italian pump manufacturer and they made a special version for us. It has a pneumatic exchanger that handles cold temperatures, and Santoprene diaphragms for ethanol compatibility.

Our FDA pump is half the price of most US competitors.

Do these come with dampener’s? As you know, filtration (especially depth filters) likes steady flow and pressure.
Thanks, Greg

We can get you a dampener, but no they don’t come stock with them.

Just want everyone to know that most of these pumps are made by versamatic. TCW upcharges the F outta them.

Positive pressure gear pumps are the way to go for lenticular filtration if you need to suck out of a drum, keg, or tank. Double diaphragm pumps (AODD), even with dampeners, are hard on depth filter media. It has high potential for cracking the filter media through the pulsation. If you are using filter aids with your filtration, you would want to go with a centrifugal pump, but you need to be able to flood/prime the pump. Both styles of pumps can be operated with air motors, which are intrinsically explosion proof, or a C1D1, single or 3 phase, explosion proof motor.
