Label printer and labeler

@ky_cbd Are you using the punch tool for the “auto weed” functionality? And if u traced those paths by hand, nice job. Looks way too precise to be an autotrace (and looks like hours of work).

Is this a thing? I’m about 6 more vinyl projects away from a serious meth habit  weeding sucks

I put it into photoshop first and erased a lot of the noise I knew wouldn’t weed easily. Changed it to b&w for easier grabbing and brought it into silhouette studio for auto tracing.

If you mess with the threshold and despeckle you can auto trace almost anything!

Got it finally. Now over to pint glasses to get the ol’ acid etch

Protip for anyone following along… Ditch the half assed honey I shrunk the crochet hook weeding tool they give u, and just use an xacto knife. I weed while it’s still on the sticky mat

Edit: fml just saw I pulled too much of the leg. But yeah looking at this one I just did, i’m gunna pull it back into photoshop and make all of the borders a bit thicker so it’s better defined when I do the acid etch. Lots of trial and error with this stuff but it’s dope being able to whip up whatever at a moments notice

Just take the other legs top half thing off too.

Doing some slaps for freebies with prerolls etc. And I fucked up my cut settings and only kissed through the vinyl. Shit happens… Constantly

What acid did you use to etch? That looks killer!

I like it.

I like that even more. Always loved that design on glass.

It doesn’t actually “auto weed” so I’m not sure why they call it that but if you’re using the Cameo 4, if you use the punch/weed tool in the second blade slot, it can punch a mark on all the pieces that need to be weeded.i haven’t actually used this function, I just read abt it in the manual. I’m using the Adobe plug in, not the Silhouette software so I can’t even tell you where you would find the settings.

And that etching is flame! If you want the same look on glass without actually etching it, just use frosted vinyl and lightly hit it with a heat gun after application for full contouring.

I use [This stuff](Armour Etch 15-0200 Etching Cream, White, 10 Amazon.com) :+1:

A bottle this size will last foreverrr. Once you’re through the 5 mins it needs to work, you scoop it up and put it back in the container. So you only actually consume a small amount each application.

Edit: I’ma maybe make an sop for this process. It’s definitely cool for gifts and shit

Do you know if the chips work in the lx910?

They do not. Unless they’ve recently came out with them.

I know this isn’t necessarily a sticker printing thing and maybe I should start a new thread but has anyone found a good automated sticker application machine that they’re using? I’m looking for one for 9ml qubes jars or round jars, either way.

Not sure about qube jars but I like the Uline applicator.

i said fuck it and bought the lx900. i got one for a thousand dollars, and ordered the refill. printing beautiful labels. any way to laminate them?

Reroll the labels as they come out and get a cold laminator.

Can’t go wrong with the LX900. When it needs a new print head they are like $80 straight from Primera and take about 30 seconds to change. I’ve only changed mine once after tens of thousands of labels. Don’t forget the reset chips: 10sets One time use chip for Primera LX900 RX900 label printer -- C/Y/M/BK | eBay. Cheap, but slow boat from China.

Does the lx900 cut too?

For info panel stickers we use a zebra printer

Works great, I’m digging those printers y’all are sharing for product/logo labeling.

We had awful experiences with the Primera LX900. Literally wrestled with it for 3 years before giving it away… Not something I would ever suggest to anyone else. We’re tech savvy people and could just barely get it to do what we needed. Plus lost entire days of my life just trying to get 300 labels printed over and over…
