I’m friends with a patent lawyer, he breads and shows Springers with me. I asked him this very question. You can call it what you want at this point. The only two things he said would be a no no was: if you named your company haribo or if you some how got your hands on their old molds.
One 1200 round of CBN Gummies. These 15 count sleep gummies go for $20 bucks retail.
That’s 80 x $20 = $1600
I’m all in at 8 boxes of jello, little bit of citric acid, gelatin and corn syrup…and $55 of CBN…and less than an hour of my time.
@BG305 how long does it take you to grow $1500 of profit?
I know you have that shit figured out.
@Killa12345 #HempBoyzRull …
i made an email drop ship when i woke up worth more than $1500.
Took about 30 secs cause i had to copy and paste the address…
weed.boyz.work.smarter.not.harder
What dosage does that end up being?
A small 4mg dose. A whopping $0.04 worth of Cannabinoids.
Do you personally find that to be an effective dosage? Assuming you’re more than a casual consumer
You assume correctly. That being said, they really dont do it for me. Iv taken huge doses of the CBN with little to no effect. I dont recommend drinking ETOH and taking a large dose.
The wife and I have some pretty straightlased friends. Matter of fact, I’m the only one who isn’t. So we have some good test subjects. I’m 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, sure that CBN is effective (for some folks).
And so begins my comedy of errors…
guys, i am a proper noob and I’m here to learn so please be gentle with the roasting. I really welcome all of the advice I can get and this community is awesome.
so it all started with me deciding to divide the batch into an 8th of the size for testing. my quantities are on the right for comparison to the original recipe.
RECIPE
Dry ingredients
168 grams Gelatin - 20g (i landed up using 2x 10g sachets of gelatin that I had)
20 grams Citric acid - 5g
8 boxes of Jolly Rancher (79 grams in each package) - 1 box of el cheapo jello orange
Wet ingredients
684 grams Corn Syrup - 85g of glucose syrup (we don’t get the original corn syrup)
640 grams Water (ROOM TEMP) - 80g of water
40 ml of Propylene glycol - 5ml of PG
5 ml of Lorann Mold inhibitor - 0.6g pf potassium sorbate granules
##.## grams of your target cannabinoid (2ed post will explain dosing calculations) - 0,6g of full-spec CBD wax
I was expecting a yield of 150 bears
I got the same pyrex mixing bowl as the pictures but didn’t stop to think that since my batch was so small that perhaps I needed a different size container.
so in goes the gelatin, citric acid, and jello powder. I mix it up really well, the result was perfect with no lumps.
then comes the glucose syrup. this was not something I’m used to handling and was trying to dispense from a 7kg bucket. using a scale and many many spatulas I got my 85g into the bowl and attempted to do a bit of mixing before adding the water. the syrup clumped up a bit of powder and then decided that it was not going to just behave. after some more spatula maneuvering, I decide to add in the water and then “go to town” with all of the kitchen spoons. I was mashing out lumps, spreading it against the inside of the bowl, doing figure 8 stirs and I eventually got a fairly lump free mix with lots of undissolved granules (unsure if this was gelatine or jello powder at this point)
I then got out the stick blender and realized I had too little mix in my bowl for this to actually blend. I start to angle the bowl, angle the blender and get some movement. I admit the wrong container was my own failure.
i add in 10 drops of Barco tutti fruitti flavor and decide to leave this to bloom and then go about getting the pg solution ready.
i measure up 5g of pg into a shot glass, then add in the wax, using a glass stirrer i crush this up as much as possible and then pop the shot glass into a warm bath of hot water inside a soup bowl.
im watching the temp, and slowly stirring in the wax. once it reached the correct temp i pull out the shot glass and continue stirring. about 95% of the wax has dissolved with a few specs still floating, and a bit of a pool floating on the surface.
i check on the blooming and its now thicker, but not too stiff. I was unsure if I should have just let it firm up more but decide since my pg is already to temp to jump straight into the microwave.
so i do 30sec bursts and stirring in between each time. after the 4th microwave, i see most of the granules have dissolved and I pop in the pg and the potassium sorbate granules which I also crushed into a powder.
stick blend some more and then pop the mix into a confection funnel.
i start to fill and get into a rhythm. I complete 2 full molds with about 10 extra in the 3rd mold. so a total of just over 100 bears. for my first time pouring i was impressed at the minimal wastage.
i set everything aside and decide to peel off a piece of the leftover gummy from the mixing bowl and OMFG! this is bitter.
i remember reading one of the posts that it could be the isolate so i take a drop from the shot glass with pg to taste. this wax is bitter AF!
i go and do a taste test on my 99% CBD isolate and find that has almost no taste, and I will be using that in the future.
so i now have a batch of bears that i need to toss and a sink full of dishes i need to clean up before my wife catches me, lol.
i welcome any tips, comments or roastings i deserve.
Welcome @Griff!
If you prefer not waste your batch, you may salvage it by dumping the gummies into a bowl, add in syrup and heat gently. Pour when throughly mixed
If you were being picky, it be 2.5g citric acid. No need to be picky with that one. I think the gelatin is an ingredient that is of more importance, 21g.
I ask you what do your cheap orange jello and Barco tutti fruitti taste like? And what the hell do they taste like together? or
The reason we use Jolly Rancher is for their flavors. Stay away from their sour apple flavor if your not a fan of sour.
5ml of PG is not much, we are putting it in a lot of sugar.
Im not sure if that’s going to work out for you. You would have to do your own shelf life study, to see how that method ends up.
Are you referring to Rosin as “wax” or are you calling distillate “wax”?
This is a very important question.
I would suggest using a small Tupperware container, if your doing a batch that small. I suppose you had a lot of waste as a “film coating”.
This will help with the number you make vs the number expected to be made.
Doing the procedure several times, helps with that to.
As my father used to say. I bet that looked like two monkeys trying to fuck a greased football.
No roasting needed.
And welcome to the forum
I am so lame I dint know what gummy bears were as a kid? I rememver the first time I got them, haribo at the store next to the arcade when I was like 11. i think my 7 11 had them on a hanger instead of the candy rack and I never noticed them before. Then there was a store in the mall that had sausages and made their own gummies and had barrels full of them I dont think its hillsbury farm store but it may have been?
ive decided to write it off!
its strange though since i normally mix the disti with MCT oil at 1g per 30ml and have had no weird or bitter taste.
i think since it was such a small amount of PG that it couldnt mask the taste
we dont get Jolly Rancher locally, but i think i will have to find a better jelly. the combination with the barco flavoring was actually rather decent, it tasted fruity but looked and smelt orange.
for the potassium sorbate, i found a recipe that is 1:4 parts solution. will test with that
this morning i pulled the molds from the sink for an inspection. they had lots some tackiness but much less that last night, popped out of the mold easily and had a soft but not too jelly like squish.
they did have an opaque look to them, and on close inspection it looked almost like really compacted foam.
is this because i poured it straight after mixing in the pg? without letting it settle in the SV ? does the SV help to get it clear?
I wonder if you just overwhelmed it with artificial flavoring? I don’t think you need to add any to this SOP as the gelatin has flavoring.
Also, Potassium Sorbate is much more soluble in water. I make an almost 50% solution of it in water to add.
I use veg glycerin but Its never an issue mixing it in. Sound like you are whipping the mix with the whisk? Mix slower. Also what temp is it when you are mixing? I use 170 max I also put teh sorbate in the gelatin/water prior to blooming. My gummies are opaque and taste like weed Ive been told. They love it for that reason. Its because i use shatter and not disty.
that recipe seems to be lacking some lecithin?
This one came straight from the agulopectin manufacturers for just vegan candy.
I usually use nano to infuse because they hit fast, but I think you could use lecithin or really any surfactant system to infuse. I’m not an expert but I think a disty syrup could be made to infuse as well.
I mainly posted this as a primer to be modified by those who needed a recipe and potentially a source for agulopectin.
