Haha yup
so is that a CRC or just a material column extension?!?
Wtf is the solvent tank sitting on
Looks like a platform to fit the tank for the fieldpiece scale.
Ding ding ding.
The output for which can be seen on the N2 cylinder next to itâŚ

I had to do the same thing with a few scales when adding gas and recovering at the same time.
Crc under the 4x48
An old 1.9 shelf to make it fit on the scale
This is my favorite hydrocarbon processing machine, and not just because I sell them:
Luna Tech Fully Automated Hydrocarbon Processing Unit
18 lbs an hour dry trim, 25 lbs an hour fresh frozen. Every run is data logged. Runs in the background with minimal observation, maybe 10 minutes of interaction an hour. Pre loaded with 7 different recipes for 7 different output product. Run everything from live resin cartridge oil to full on shatter on one machine. Self cleaning - just do a dry run. Fully automated with the ability to override every single valve to run custom recipes. Every custom recipe will be saved for easy repetition.
Running this machine is literally as simple as loading the reactor vessel, walking out of the C1D1, picking a recipe, pressing âstart runâ, and walking away to focus on post processing and packaging. A text message will be sent out to let you know that your oil has entered the distillation chamber and your reactor chamber is ready for a âhot swapâ. 175lbs of throughput CONFIDENTLY in an 8 hour shift.
4lbs an hour of solvent recovery @ peak recovery rate. 98.6% average solvent recovery overall per run.
Two massive chillers come with the package running 12kW@-40 & 10kW@-70. True temperature of the solvent in process, not just the temp at the chiller. Temp & pressure taken 100 times per second for accuracy.

These systems are truly amazing. Hit me up directly if you want to learn some more information on them. I love to talk about these things!
Do you prefer to run a vertical system? Or is that just what you were used to from the original design?
Itâs the first closed loop I ever got back in 2015 and just kept upgrading shit over the years until it turned into this Frankenstein mk4. And I have it so dialed in I donât wanna start with a new system.
I ran a Luna in Eugene Oregon.
It broke. A lot. More downtime than any other machine Iâve ever used. Lots of clogs. Lots of design issues in my opinion. But what do I know, I just design extraction equipment.
The reactor is sized wrong. Led to low yields. The collection is too small, took forever to get solvent from reactor to it. It literally had brass parts in it. The valves werenât rated for the cold and kept breaking. The piping was a messy rats nest not designed for maintenance, trying to get swagelok to seat correctly was a nightmare and you needed baby girl hands to get in there and work on it. Itâs not setup to distill gas as we got it so I had to add valves and void the engineer stamp. The collection wasnt designed to be cleaned out so how do you clean out what solvent distill left over.
It was nice running it from my phone but Iâd trade that for it not having so much downtime.
The owner Jack is a nice guy.
Just my 2 cents. Good concept but needs lots of refinement.
You could just make a material & crc rack. Would only be some end caps, fittings, hosing, a rack and some mounts. Unless you changed something drastically, the Work flow should be the same (but without having to use a 10ft ladder)
olâ Walt is that you? whatâs your ig these days
Is tube in shell a condensing column?
If so your going to need another chiller just for that. Unless you want to do 1 run and wait 2 hours for your chiller to get to temp again.
We put the crc column on the collection, have the bottom of the tube clean with a gasket underneath sitting on a clean piece of parchment, put the injection cap on top then attach the bottom of material column to crc. So luckily we havenât had to use a ladder in a few years. But ya totally get what youâre saying. Just hasnât been worth the money/time for me to actually make a rack
Wow, thatâs terrifying. Sounds like Luna knows a lot more about electronics and automation than they do about extraction.
I would rather have an automated extractor built by a reputable American stainless fab company with a track record of making SAFE, high throughput units proven to produce a top quality product with industry standard components and no undersized jank or brass components, with an added layer of automation, than an automated seat of the pants system put together by people who donât know what needs to be used for safe extraction across a range of temperatures that lasts for years in industrial settings - that may spring a hydrocarbon leak and with no operator present in room to respond to situation, could create bad scenario for a whole building. A closed loop extractor thatâs not able to distill gas out of the box and has to be modified to void engineering certification - Wow. Thatâs insane.
I cannot stand industrial machinery so tightly crammed together that it is not easy to access valves and nuts / bolts / fittings / valves for maintenance and service. Manufacturers that make cold temperature gear without accounting for insulation clearance and ice buildup are obviously not familiar with the processes we are doing and IMHO you shouldnât support second wave companies coming in to sell expensive half-engineered gear. Support second wave companies coming in to sell properly field tested, well designed, long lasting, SAFE gear.
Itâs⌠not a good look to be ashamed of the plates on your hydrocarbon extractor. In fact being secretive of traceable serial numbered plates should be a massive fucking red flag to the potential purchaser of said expensive supposed stainless.
Buy quality stainless from companies transparent about the materials they are made from and the testing and certification process they are supposed to comply with.

Iâve never been to the BZB facility, and I sure as hell havenât signed any sort of NDA, so here you go.

A big enough chiller will do it all good sir.
For the prices he charges it should be made in America. Especially since several systems have had catastrophic failures he blames on material quality. China is notorious for sending out jank shit even if your request and pay otherwise.
Iâve tried to get my company to mfg for him for awhile but he probably wouldnât like losing all that money he custies people out of on china steel. He says itâs all mostly made in America anyways. I donât buy it.
Egg roll ethics.
