ReXing THCa in pentane

You clearly haven’t thought about this evaporation as one could perform it in a CLS…warm pot connected to a cold pot. You control the flow. With temp and a valve…

Look scary anymore?!?

If you’re getting sugar, you are passing through the metastable zone too quickly… How does one determine Metastable zone width (MSZW)

yeah use seeds.

Co-worker found a ton of old extract from ~2021 from previous extractors and I decided to clean it up and rock up whatever THCA was left.

Considering using RO Or distilled water I noticed no one had mentioned that

You sure about that?

If you want to get fancy, check out the solvent sweating baskets from chemtek. Chem Tek - Oil Filtration Media.

Way better than hot water(what?) or pentane wash(standard procedure).

they work great for getting the bulk of the terps off forsure. But it you want them spotless Hot water or cold solvent works best. if you haven’t tried hot distilled water give it a shot

I’m not certain this was the first time I suggested the trick…

…and I’ll be honest, I haven’t actually got around to it yet.
Despite having made sure my last two fuges were setup for it…spinning alone has been getting the job done, and if I get the THCa too clean, our carts look wrong and also have a tendency to oxidize.

Where did you learn of it @PCGextraction ?

One of those “obvious to those skilled in the art”?

I was certainly tickled to see it being suggested by others…

Might have to perform it myself today…just for @Bc.bho

Fail.

At the 1gram scale neither of these two showed significant improvement after vortexing in 15ml of 50C distilled water.

But my water definitely cooled off faster than I wanted, and 15:1 is a lot less than I’d use in a fuge.

At least some fraction of the “diamonds” have color internally, and that is not going to wash off.

Unexpectedly the “isolish” floats (entrained air).

Both are under vac now.

Could definitely smell (and taste) the “terps” in the rm temp water decanted from the solids before throwing them under vac.

Might just have to try it in the fuge…

Thanks cyclopath for putting in the real work!

Nice experiment! Try drying over silica or water absorbant of choice to pull out the last bits.

Output from single spin….

That’s his bread and butter

from you haha i tried it with really wet terps and chunky diamonds tho not isolish

 that’s what I figured…

Can you define “hot” for the rest of the class?

Like I said, I have made sure the feature was within reach…. but I was actually told by my crew to back off on the purity at one point…so had not actually tried it until today.

The water absolutely tasted like “it worked”, but visually I didn’t see much difference.

Might see more once they are dry.

What’s the melt point for thca?

i had it at like 70c not for very long

Pretty close to 70C iirc. Which is why I started at 50C

Edit: THCA-A - Reference Materials - Lipomed Inc. Reports 75 +/- 3C

Is melting similar to evaporation where there is some amount occurring prior to the given boiling point, or in this case the given melting point?
