OKC will only allow listed/labeled booths

Yes, Mike Miller is giving me hell, after the city already told be the requirements for the booth. Pulled all permits talked to everyone, built it, went for inspection and was told this. I called many third party listing agencies and they won’t even cover cannabis related items. At least this is my experience so far. Let me know where you get with this @TheGratefulPhil because I am fighting the same battle and I already bought and built my booth.

Yes, we spoke with UL and they said they created HAL their own special UL1389 number which is not like any other traditional UL listing.

This is just too much.

We are on top of this. We’ve yet to have a booth turned down in permitting from a municipality once we got involved. John our PE is on it!

This is illegal. UL is a private company. a government agency can’t require you to patronize a private company.

As of about 20 minutes ago I got off the phone with the building superintendent in Oklahoma City, with some great news.

Mike was so happy with the engineering peer review provided by @c1d1labs as well as the detailed engineering design and reports provided by myself that they have decided to rethink their approach on this issue.

In the upcoming weeks/months, the city should see a change to this regulation and will be replaced with a standard based on successful regulations in other AHJs throughout the US.

This is fantastic news for extractors. The standard will of course be extremely rigorous, but not so much so that it disallows competition between enclosure manufacturers.

Just goes to show—if you are kind and professional with your regulators THEY WILL LISTEN.

This is a HUGE win for the Oklahoma cannabis industry.

@c1d1labs LITERALLY helping me change the rules in my home town. I will never buy a booth from someone else.

Congratulations! So awesome that you were alble to be part of what will be such a valuable modification to the laws there! Oklahoma is lucky to have you!

And well done, @c1d1labs! Not easy to win over the regulators. That’s enough to earn my business when your services are needed!

Super stoked for all of you!

Soooo… are they still requiring an independent third party review/NTRL for the booths in OKC? In particular the one that I’ve already built. I have been reaching out to Mike regularly, as well as our engineers and we have not gotten a response. It would be kind and professional for our city officials to respond. There are those of us in the area that don’t have months on end, we need some resolution. I should not have my license delayed and potentially rejected due to lack of communication.

Hey!

They do now accept third party reviews for C1D1 Labs booths.

They tried to force a UL listing over any other engineering firm, which is not legal.

We just leveled the playing field a little. If anyone needs help with Oklahoma just let me know. We can help grab those permits

It ain’t that easy—trust.

Lol yeah.

More like call up UL and ask if they’d like to pound your testicles with a mallet for 8-16 months AND take your money

I have managed a project through UL. It was the worst of all bureaucratic nightmares.

They’re… Not the best NRTL. TÜV took longer but overall was less infuriating. Intertek was the best but they don’t do as much and my interaction was more limited with them so maybe it’s just rose colored glasses.

TUV was our go to but managing legacy UL marks was insane. Weee and RoHS were huge

Of the three, TUV was the only one who made an effort to move forward—the rest blew me off several times in a row.

I can’t even imagine how terrible the process is once you begin

That sucks man, I deal with terrible code enforcers all day. Drop a few k on the floor next time he’s there, that boomer will jump all over it and won’t bother you anymore😂

Yeah, what’s your pricing for entry level 10x10?

I’m thinking of starting in Logan County… Guess I have to invest in a booth asap… I make the move up there in a month

If you get land in Logan county you don’t have to worry about OKC at all. That’s the real wild west
