New summit research max rotovap 80 LPH!?!?!?

agreed running huge amounts isn’t useful if you have to do it in batches

Please explain in this forum how your new rotavap does 80L/hr. Would love to hear the scientific proof to back up your claims because you claim your new short path does 12-18L/hr too and I have a hard time believing that as well!:rofl:

You talk about all this secret technology behind your roto but literally, there is nothing you did that makes it even come close to 80/hour. Let’s hear about these system specs that allow you to do 80L/hour.

@Phytoalchemy he doesn’t have any proof so he always tries to tell people to come talk to him in private over the phone so he can try and bullshit his way through explaining the science.

All I know is that I’m a businessman and a scientist, not an engineer. I employ a mechanical and chemical engineer for the technical details, and when I want to understand the thermodynamics beyond my own education of a piece of equipment they usually just show me 1-3 mathematic formulas with real time data that easily provides a reasonable and accurate basis for the expected performance of said equipment. It’s never a long conversation, and it’s always easy for them to explain.

IMO, any scientific instrument company worth their salt can give me this info (and often do on their websites without asking), and do so willingly with haste. Otherwise, I just look at a company as a used car dealership. I will give summit the opportunity to provide this data or I have no reason to believe him, it’s the same to me as comparing an article to a peer reviewed paper, if your evidence is sound then you have no reason to hide it.

Maybe @Future and the GLG can crowdfund a reverse engineering thinktank to tackle these problems. A sort of “myth busters” for the cannabis community.

That’s a fabulous idea!!!

So this does 80LPH? Just like your 50L SPD does like 10 or 13 LPH right? What was that absurd quoted speed?

What’s the price tag on this?

Seems like just another reason to charge 5 times the going rate of a Rotovape to get a 20L that does maybe double the speed of a normal roto vape? If I wanted to spend 50k on a roto vape I’d build a small 15 GPH falling film.

What’s the 50L kit cost? Maybe does 10 to 20% faster then a normal SPD Becuse it’s wider bore.

But your absurd quoted speeds turn you into the boy who cried wolf… set a timer and do a time lapse of a receiving ball with a clock behind it and show me even 5LPH on your 50L and I’ll be absolutely freaking shocked. Same with your roto.

I can say my car does 500 miles per hour!! Look the speedometer even goes up to 700!! Doesn’t mean shit.

GO. PROVE. IT.

His spds do 2L an hour max if you run them hot as fuck.

He claims his roto does 80L and hour. That means I’d have to drain my ball 8 times in an hour. No way that thing is that fast.
That’s faster than the falling film amp
Was slamming at his booth

Summit works like this. Make outrageous claims to get person on the phone, then upsell them a bunch of shit you don’t need or that performs as the original claim

Has anyone actually gotten a quote on one of these yet?

I’ve never liked the idea of using an SPD over 10-20L for anything batch distillation. I can set up a stainless wiper film to do semi-continuous or fully-continuous 95%+ TAC single pass distillations and it basically turns into a set it and forget it system with minimal residence time. It’s far less stressful to stop a wiper and even drain your main feed tank if you have to during issues and troubleshooting than it is to deal with a 20L+ round bottom flask full of product. I dont like putting that much faith in a glass flask.

Not trying to turn this thread into a still body vs WFE, but as I’ve said before L/hr is not at all the only deciding factor behind investing in a tool, even if those 12L SPD claims were true its overall not the type of system I would use for that scale. Period.

Same opinion I have with solvent recovery, FFE has advantages you cant get from a roto

I have posted videos of my short paths(22l) doing 5-7 liters per hour both on here and ig. Videos don’t lie.
And your math is off… At 15-20 liters every 15-20 minutes that’s a range of around 60-80 liters per hour.
To achieve this you need to use a 3hp chiller and a 8 head pump with a Bellow to the roto.
We did the test with a 1.5hp and although we were able to maintain speeds it put a load kn the 1.5 and we only pair it with our Max rotovap with a 4 head pump or else the 1.5 tends to be abused.
Again this was done with a audience. And we clocked those speeds only becusee - yes behold the original collection flask was smaller and required dumping becuaee it would fill that much fluid up that fast.
This roto was actually designed to have a small discharge pump on the ground moving alcohol out continually. Draining it by hand is a option when you don’t want to spend a few grand on a pump.
The falling film was clocked with basic heat and vacuum with tap water at 40 gallons per hour. With adequate chilling and more CFM we would see easily 40-60 gallons per hour. And I’m sure with a 20hp chiller and a blower attached to it, it will exceed 80 gallons a hour.

I hope these specs cleared things up for you.

quote just came in this morning. its just shy of $50k for a turnkey 20L setup

uses 3 phase power… thanks dick

I bet you can’t do more than 30 gallons a day bro :joy::fire:

even if the roto does half of what he is claiming it is worth the money i think.
40L of recovery per hour is just over 10.5 gallons, which is far more than any other 20L roto will do. but the 3 phase power makes my facility unable to use it. we are waiting for a 3 phase upgrade from the city… its been months

If it makes you feel any better, im convinced you were able to pull 80L in an hour.
only 2 things i see wrong.
I think it should be stainless for that price. thats alot of glass to break…
I know what the cost of stainless is, it would be maybe 10k for the stainless coil/ collection setup, and it should not use 3 phase power, not every facility is equipped with that kind of power and requires an expensive and lengthy process of upgrading your building.

other than those 2 points, it looks like a solid piece of equipment in my unbiased opinion.

I saw this new roto in Vegas, jumped in this thread to learn more about it, but I learned more than I wanted to about who some of you really are, I don’t mind a good old pissing match like between Dustin and Elliot, but some of you on here argue like Gilbert Fucking Grape who just jumped on his first bandwagon. There are some A GRADE AMATEUR ASSHOLES on this thread and I have a long memory. What the actual fuck, a case of the Mondays does not rationalize a damn thing, with so many issues perhaps the need to open up a magazine stand should be looked into.

Blowjobs always make a dick feel better I guess.

seems he has gotten alot of hate, just trying to change the direction of the thread. nobody is giving blowjobs here bro

With a FFE, a lot of people circumvent that issue with a gas powered heater rather than electricity
