New summit research max rotovap 80 LPH!?!?!?

What was the pond pump for?

Circulating cold water. Helped trap more vapor

Not too sure how useful reading the incoming vapor temp is either, other companies have added thermocouple wells seated in the condensing zones which also seems unneccasry to me. I guess you can get a feel for whether you’re passing the cooling capacity of the condensers/chillers, but theres other cues for that without reading a vapor temp.

I suppose, if one was trying to recover and fraction off different solvents from a solvent system based process, then the incoming vapor temp might be helpful. But even then, your solvents better be of fairly differing volatilities or a rotovap is not really going to help a whole lot.

I always think of heidolph as the apple of lab equipment, they add marked up features you don’t need and remove and or over complicate features to sell more ancillary equipment. I am 100% sure that summit will sell this at a much more reasonable price than heidolph, but will the price match the utility of these added features?

I doubt it matters to him. people will buy his products regardless of the antics. he doesn’t do bad business its a bit green taxed price but he also gives a price match compete. I still bet he sold more items per day in this industry during his offset times than any other manufacturing company or hardware provider.

@Phytoalchemy you’re talking about a different league of equipment  the aesthetics reflect the quality. Ive always admired that company but I never had a chance to use any of there equipment. Have you played with there toys before?

There is a real problem on the horizon which I am very likely to address soon.
There was a major issue with true terpenes and things like honey cut.
Why?
Because these violate human rights and are in my opinion, crimes against humanity.
Selling anything that intentionally can and will damage people’s lives is very bad. Being too stupid to know means you need more education and Are a liability to those around you. And probably should not Be distributing things to anyone

Look at what just happened to the vape game.
Now, I have been saying for a long time THAT MDI inhalers are the only acceptable route for administration to the lungs.
That can be debated, most of us…and all pulmonary experts would agree that anything heated with unknown compounds is likely to have negative effects on the body.
That being said, some of the practices of members is concerning.
Please continue to do due diligence everyone and Be responsible.
I will post facts and information when they are complete and if you are uncertain about residuals or whatever please ask the forum and also equipment and materials
Some things are not compatible :call_me_hand::call_me_hand:

Keep making medicine not focusing on money - those people always do harm

I’ve used heidolphs industrial rotovaps, some used older bench top rotovaps, their overhead stirrers, and their reactors. All of which are most definitely very high quality. I know some pharma labs that are still using 15+ year old equipment of theres no problem.

I just cant justify the price for their gear. Everytime I get a quote from them I usually get one that’s at least 50% less expensive from other companies that have at least 85-90% of the same quality that are made in the USA.

I also have been put off by their customer service several times. They need to hire more field technicians, I’ve called them with equipment that is totally down and had them take two weeks to send someone to fix it, and their gear is too digital and expensive for me to touch while it’s still under warranty.

$70k for a 20L rotovap?
$60K for a 20L reactor?

I just cant justify that, even when it’s for a lab that I don’t own.

The new summit rotavaps don’t have enough kW of heat to even do the 80L/hr of ethanol recovery he claims. They only have 1kW more than a standard Ai roto. His claims are wildly misleading and false advertising to say the least. Just like his 12-18L/hr claims on his short path systems.:rofl:

There’s mathematically no way it does 80L/hr. Especially when the amount of heating power the bath comes with (7kW) was what he claimed at MJBizCon. I could just tell by the size of the chiller he paired it up with that no in-house testing/R&D was adequately performed to come up with the “80L/hr” he claims.

I lost faith in summit SOP when I bought a pig filter… It pisses out the side just like the little pig in the logo :man_facepalming:t2: should have known better.

Although the quality of their glass is great.

The thing to remember about summit glass, is its Rocco glass with summit designs. The quality in that case is the contribution of an excellent glass company, though I applaud summit for going with a high end American company for that.

My reason for not purchasing their equipment is that their business model appears to be marketing ludacris throughput to attract a clientele which either doesn’t know any better or falls for the con. They dump on wipers by claiming outrageous throughput rates, yet even if their claims were true the L/hr rate is not at all the only consideration of purchasing equipment.

Just remember, when you compliment summit glass, it’s not actually summit you’re complimenting.

You are the most correct. Big ups to Rocco glassware. I forgot that’s the company that makes summit glass. Thank you for pointing that out

You don’t have a clue what you are talking about. Misleading you has become a hobby…

You don’t understand what you are talking about.

I guess it’s best we will leave it at that. Anything else i guess id be doing the work for you kiddo…

If he is incorrect then it should be no problem for you and your company to provide the metrics and math to support your claims. Instead of just finger wagging, provide the evidence. Every scientific company worth their salt I’ve ever dealt with, and even many Ebay resellers, have been able to provide the engineering and mathematics to back up their machinery.

So let’s see it, with your gear present the engineering data to support your claims, I’m an evidence man and my opinion can be swayed by quantified facts.

Sure. Give me a call and I’ll arrange it in person if you’d like.

Nope, I’ll take it in a public space thank you

Also I have a video planed explaining everything. If you Wana wait for video fine, if not I can hookup up a chiller and show you. What others are doing is mere deflection. There’s alot more that isn’t being mentioned here and information related to such performance charachteristics.

Something to consider is alot of people are highly threatened by the product and it speaks for itself. We did the testing in a legit lab and logged a varriable result speed of 15-20 liters every 15-20 minutes. In multiple varriable speed ratings. It was done with a audience. The reason was because the original vessel was smaller and had to be emptied every 15-20 minutes. This was done with extract and not bare.

Your ability to question everything around you is fabulous. I welcome that effort from everyone. Seeing is believing and I’m willing to explain it to potential customers and or demonstrate. We also had it running in our shop for days for walk in customers to see in action.

Yes the 1.5 ho chiller pegs up to 8c and won’t stay at or below 0. This means we have a 3hp custom built chiller for this rotovap that will allow it to sustain those speeds at or below 0 on the chiller and at or above 65-75 on the roto

I agree there is a need to this in a public space, not here - prob in a YouTube video.

However I still will only tell key points verbally and I will not reveal my technology secrets within the unit that may or may not have to do with efficiency and such on video in a public space. I am however willing to tell you in person becusee I respect your curiosity

Is it cuz of the way the condenser is oriented

Bro if someone wants to hit really hit 15L an hour they buy a wiper not some obnoxious 50L spd you can’t feed. That’s genius

If someone really wants to get 80L an hour alcohol recovery guess what they buy…wait for it…a falling fucking film :joy::joy::joy:
