I've been reading alot about BHO on here, please critique my what I think I learned!

Do NOT use those clamps.

It’s always the clamps…

@WhereAreTheStones
I’ve accumulated several 20# tanks that I use for welding, which is more than I need. It would be great to be able to trade something I don’t need for what I do, thanks for the suggestion!

@rowan
10-4, I ordered 7 double bolt 6" clamps and am awaiting arrival. I’ve seen conflicting advice about the 1.5 and 3", what are you thoughts on those? Are the hinged ones just made for unpressurized applications?

Just go double bolt across the board

After a little wear and tear on the single hinge clamps, your chances of having the eye nut fly off and take an eye out are higher and higher.

Remember when metal gets cold it shrinks… water condensing on the cold metal also can freeze and slowly loosen that nut… its just so risky compared to a very affordable bullet proof upgrade.

I know 0 professional operators who would ve caught dead with a single hinge clamp anywhere on their pressurized system.

Anyone recommending otherwise is a broke joker.

Gotcha, $700 is a small price to pay for safety, I got acme for the 6". Non-acme high pressure clamps seem to have equivalent pressure ratings in smaller diameters, are there any considerations other than pressure rating?

SSH clamps are fine for 6” and under.

Bro $700!?

I sent you a DM, but lmk if you need clamps i can get these at a discount for you- like $40 a pop

*Cancels order for 8 ACME clamps

Thanks for the knowledge, you saved me more than enough to buy a few 1.5" and 7x 3" clamps. I’ve got an order pending on OSS so I added the clamps to my cart ($36 per 6")

Thanks @710enigmatic , I’ll take a look.

Nice, I wondered about buying a jacketed platter or chamber but ended up getting basic splatter platters and round coolers. Did you start with coolers? How did upgrading improve your recovery rates?

No I started with a regular bucket and then a metal pale. I started with a regular 6×6 base with an mk3 lid (which got sold to @Capttripppp) and was doing qps and only going off what the gauge read.

Upgrading to 6×12 was originally not even for the gas factor but believe it or not was to help my back. So down the line of upgrades I decided I can’t deal with the bullshit of replenishing the warm water. I thought about modifying a bucket to be my jacket but then I’d have to deal with heat loss because it’s not sealed.

The jacketed base increased rates in my end probably from 40mind to 32mins using ¼" recovery lines and that’s if I’m covering the tank and you’re able to dial in the heat… … That was just the jacketed base though.

Over time I had my middle spool jacketed and my column jacketed

I hit 20mins recovering having my collection and middle spool jacketed and my tank submerged in dry ice using ¼" lines.

I still plan on upgrading to ½" recovery just because I wanna see it rip like people say it does.

The times are rough estimates I never really actually tiens my runs but I’ve seen the clock form when I started my runs and ended them and it seems a lot quicker than when I originally started.

I use a big ass sterilite bin for the collection and dry ice. Ik it’s prone to cracking but hey it fits.

I have a 6×18 stainless tank from @Killa12345 that’s been my friend for a bit.

Yeah man I’d say high pressure clamps, look into gaskets and the meterials they’re made of and the ratings they can hold. I guess just look more into dialing in and choosing preferences while not skimping on safety.

And welcome to Future4200!!!

I’m doing a run next week though so I can dial in times if you’d like.

I appreciate you laying all that out, it sounds like having a jacketed base/spool is a dream! What fluid(s) do you run through the jackets?

When you say “1/4” lines" does that mean you are using 2+ lines for purging? If so, how much does it speed things up? I have my tank setup with an extra quick connect and was debating between using it with the material chamber hose or a second recovery line.

No I’m using one hose for recovery one hose for injection.

I haven’t gotten my system retrofitted for nitrogen yet but I switched to a jacketed column because I saw how you can just push freezing cold solvent with nitrogen and I already orefreeze my material prior so I don’t pick up much I run fast and cold but I’m sure there’s people here who are more about the full parameters being subzero. Like solvent tank chilled, column chilled, material chilled, collection chilled.

I usually just freeze my material prior to loading and my solvent tank and collection.

I’m just a personal use dude and I’m not growing diamonds just shatter runs. So to me it’s not that big of a deal with being extra-extra. Like crc to me is extra, using a dewaxing column seems extra. But to each thier own and preference is tied to being comfortable with how you run your setup.

I get down to 5um…

Can confirm. i used to work in a dairy manufacturing facility myself and we had those all over the fillers.

I just honestly use them for warm water recovery.

I put my collection in an sterilite bin that’s big enough to be able to put a slurry around it. Ik it’s probably prone to cracking but… I do everything outside. After I’m done with injection I take the extractor out of the sterilite bin and pour the dry ice I used from the sterilite bin into my igloo cooler that has the solvent tank.

Then I start recovery but I realized that the jackets build up their own vacuum and get frozen so I realized if you take a Diaphragm vacuum pump or a regular vacuum pump and then put a vacuum to the jacket after injection you can defrost the jackets super quick and then start the recovery.

Chilling the collection isn’t necessary, just a waste of dry ice.

@JazzBandit will also be using N2 to push.

If you don’t have a huge coil then dry ice and isopropanol in a bucket with a big pot inside it with isopropanol and a pump…chill the tank with that “chiller” and a pump in a cooler with a sous vide or bucket heater, and a pump, to pump warm water into your collection…

Don’t know if I met you today at the shop, but just wanted say thank you for hooking me up and i recommend anyone on here giving these guys a try if you need anything extraction related. Great group of guys with excellent customer service.
