It's Willbillytek. Duh

You’re kidding right?

This is a pretty massive assumption that until you make blues you should probably not spread as a fact.

Someone’s mad

Blue “inclusions” would require something actually blue in the mother liquor.

I reckon we’re looking at something more along these lines

the terpene(?) used is a decent fit, and the concentration in the mother liquor and speed of crash determines how often these “defects” occur.

Doping.

It’s not an assumption

Either we have conformational polymorphism or a compound undergoing some chemistry as it crystallizes. With no data hard to know.

So you’re just arguing that for it to be a co-crystal it has to be above a certain concentration (ratio) of the minor molecule (?)

I wouldn’t know exactly but I get what you’re saying now

in order to be a co-crystal it must have defined stoichiometry, that’s his point.

no. I mean that every molecule of A has to be interacting with exactly the same number of B to qualify as a co-crystal (ignoring edge effects).

…but that is NOT what is happening here (ratio makes it impossible!)

By crashing fast, one can get inclusions (pockets that are not participating in the crystal structure) eg solvent, OR, in this case we are likely getting point defects/substitutions.

as this is (now) being done deliberately, it qualifies as “doping”.

The entire “the blue is from a certain molecule cocrystallizing in the lattice refracting light in a certain way” theory kinda falls apart with green and pink and purple and all of these other colors in my opinion.

The truly amazing thing about the quick crash (at least what I’ve been doing) is because it crystallised such high amounts of terpenes into the crystal I figured solvent would be high as well but that wasn’t the case. They extremely easily purge to ND for all involved solvents (except terpenes)

which would presumably be the difference between substitutions and inclusions. especially with decent fitting substitutions.

not quite as good a fit as say CBDV in a CBD crystal, but still pretty decent.

Is there a difference in flavors between the pink, purple, green, blue, and clear?

Haven’t tried them. My guesses as to what the colors are and my experience with the quick crash tells me you should be able to make any color taste fairly the same because you could dope the crystal with the different things that cause color as well as identical terpene profiles. Basically if I dope almost half a percent of the same terp profile as well as what ever is necessary for the color into blue purple and green crystal sops I suspect they could all be made to taste the same.
Perhaps one of the gem Tek wizards will chime in as this will be fairly apparent when these products are available to the market.

Taste threshold and the amount required to generate color may not be remotely the same range of concentrations. Some things (like iso) have very low taste threshold, some things not so much.

Do they taste different or what?
