Hell to the yeah
David installed ours
Cause their electrician preferred ABB?
I was arguing from the standpoint of a generic vfdā¦seems like the dart will do 120hz without much trouble. Only caveat would be āhow close to the current limit am I running at 60hzāā¦because you need to derate.
Thatās pretty neato
Well, theyāre not what I remembered them to be, most likely because I was on the phone with CTS while using them. These are just simple factory reprogram settings. I wish I annotated them (I probably did at the lab I reprogrammed the unit at). Anyway - minimally helpful hopefully?

And how many VFD have you had to beat into submission?
Iāve run a centrifuge with 15HP motor on a 1.5HP ABB VFD. Took forever to find the spot where that was possibleā¦
Todayās top priority is to get a centrifugal pump running using a surplus centrifuge controller. First step is explaining to the embedded VFD that we need to be more gentle. Fuge is 10hp, pump is 5HP.
If thereās any kind of communication port you could probably change the settings with that
I personally havenāt changed the dart vfd I just know what was told to me by the customer that had Jay change theres
If you ever take the pump apart do not over tighten it. Iāve seen people burn out the motor by having the pump too tight. It seems like it needs some play
How in the heck did you do this? I was taught that you have to oversize your vfd to at least 1.5x motor hp.
That didnāt burn the vfd?
F=ma. Force and mass are fixed. Change acceleration.
We also told it to try harder. In all sorts of ways.
Ended up at about 5hz iirc. And most limits set to 200% of suggested.
But it rotated and did so till I got it down to about -30C, at which point the added drag from the cold ethanol beat us.
Guy that showed me was also known for running centrifuge motors at 120hz and beyond. I recall him mentioning 6000rpm out of a nominal 1800rpm centrifuge. That may have involved altering the gearing as well.
wow!
Yep electrickery is all kinds of fun once you know to wiggle it just right ![]()
Refusing to take āIām sorry Daveā¦ā as an answer helps.
If you canāt fix it with a hammer you have an electrical problem. Confucious AD 47.
Glad someone understands my whirled: I can nay get the power Captain!
@XrangerX420X I called and talked to Nick at chemtech today on another note and heās always willing to help you figure out whatās going in. He will send a note to his installers and other clients on your behalf. Maybe this can help you get to the bottom of your raff side getting disty coming over.
Have you changed any of the orings or seals in your tool? It may be time for an overhaul.
My boss wanted me to check and see if this SOP is for a helderpad?
@anon45638961 posted these parameters a while back. I think they will work for both systems as they are almost identical.
Could you post some contact info. If heās a chemtech rep, Iād like to speak to him directly.

Which waste is collecting the āgood distillate?ā Where the black stuff goes or the cold trap?
I had a problem with blow over into the external condenser cold trap and it was caused by my internal condenser not being hot enough on the last passes. The disty crystallizes on the internal condenser and built up until it could pour over into the vacuum feed and ended up in the cold trap.
its not going to the cold trap, its fractioning into the residue side.
