Emptying carts

How easy is it to open carts? I’m not from the US but am visiting west coast.

My idea is to empty some jetty solventless and cold fire into an amber glass jar. About 5-10ml of each. Throw the jars in my suitcase with my toiletries. My country has a ban on vape and vape oil (ecigs not thc) so can’t take the carts as is. Have 3 main questions:

1)How easy is it to uncap the carts? Any threads or vids for best way to do it?

2)To transfer in the amber glass jar should I heat the cart up in an oven then use are glass syringe and transfer to the jar?

3)Lastly could I refill them in the empty carts or will I need new ones?

Thanks for your help

Buying prefilled syringes seem easier than empting carts, and less wasteful

Those would be your best bet. Too much work uncapping carts plus not all can be unscrewed.

Wasteful, and expensive

Word I don’t know if they sell rosin in syringes .
And most syringes are snap on caps and they don’t come off.
In America they’re fine, I don’t know how your country is but can’t be worse than American customs and tsa. But I don’t know your countries laws or your comfort level…
Can you mail it to yourself or your friend? Or just leave it in your bag with your pens or whatever , it is a pen right?

I’ve seen pre filled syringes for a few brands but not for these two . (Cold fire and jetty)

Yeah but taking like 15-20 carts is a lot. If I could manage to put in two different tiny 10ml jars it’s literally risk proof for me .

Plus you can get stopped at customs when I reach my country. And they will confiscate carts if found.

It depends on if they are threaded caps or press on caps. Threaded caps, you can unscrew. Press ons are permanent. Most caps I run across are still threaded, but they are probably going more and more the press on for manufacturing speed and also there is a though the threaded type are not tamper/child proof that might get legislated.

For emptying them, don’t prewarm. It’ll soak into the wick and lose product. Uncap, hold upside down over container and gently warm at low temp in an oven or with a hair dryer. You’ll lose a lot to transfer loses.

How much would you say I’d lose to transfer loss? And where is this loss going? By dripping on the sides etc? Or some other reason @Listen_Up_Sonny

Soaking into the ceramic coil inside

Ahhh. So in a 1ml cart what would be your rough estimate on the amount I end up transferring?

Id guess roughly you would lose ~10-15%

I base this figure off the amount of volume loss i saw due to ceramic absorption when i made carts

I don’t know, 30%? This is only a guess.
You’d still be able to get a lot of hits off of each cart before your flight from what’s still on in the ceramic

If you want to make edibles you can soak the carts in an oil, but for your use just tilt upside down, and heat. Anything in the cotton/wick will be useless, if it’s 1000mg you might get 800mg in return.

Make sure your carts are screw on first. Honestly your best bet is syringes. If all else fails buy your carts and heat into your jar and heat from the top, which would be the bottom of the cart, when flipped. Do it gently just enough for it to move, use a hair dryer.

Since it’s soaked already yea unless the company tops it off. Which is rare. I expect the same, 100mg-200mg loss is my guess.

flying in to buy a specific brand? and planning to loose 15-20% getting at it…

that’s some hype!

@qma have you seen press on wooden tips yet? I haven’t, and Jetty seems to be using wooden tips. so OP might have a chance…

@TheReds there are some emptying tips here:Vape cartridge re-use

Just from personal experience trying to deal with a bad batch of carts, you’re gonna lose about 30% like @_joe said.

You’ll have a great loss % and loss of terps too imo

Buying 1ml carts instead of .5ml carts, if possible, will reduce your loss.

Jettys are press on, i cant unscrew them.
Atleast the half gram solventless ones are, i havent had any of their other products.

I have unfortunately, and the carts he is looking for are snap tops

Probably nothing a pair of pliers and patience couldn’t solve
