i’d like to see a video of your cold fill
On your cold fill do you ever see oxygen streaks in your oil. When I cold fill, if there is too much air in the filler; I will see a oxygen streak in the oil where the syringe
I just filled some carts, lower/medium heat capped and flipped after each one. As expected It wasnt primed very well. Didn’t lose any extract though.
I did notice streaks in my oil way more though and when I finished my last couple I cranked the heat to test what worked better and the difference. Seemed like a small loss maybe 5-10% but hit way harder. I used a 2% terpenes cut so it was very thick think its having a hard time to prime now on the others. Still hitting okay but less.
I don’t . I also use very high quality oil in the 95%+ range.
I’ll get you one tomorrow. You know what machine I use I showed it to you in dm months ago.
What temp do you mix at?
For the cf50, 70-80c
For the desktop farmers, 70c in the res and 85-95c on the line
I separate my liter into 50ml beakers with 1oz per beaker. I heat with a oil bath on a countertop induction…you can control the temperature and oil does not produce any steam.I put the stirrer bar on top of cold oil and when it sinks to the bottom of the beaker I place on the magnetic stirrer and introduce terpenes. I use 1.5ml of terpenes per beaker. I hand fill with a glass syringe with a 14 gauge stainless steel needle. Carts are capped within seconds after filled. I prefer to hand fill as it gives me more control and consistency. I produce a cart with no air bubbles or space. For 5k less than 0.1 failure rate.
50c, the oil starts hotter than that when coming out of the crock pot though.
I guess I’m not being patient enough thats pretty similar to what I’ve been doing. how long does it take those 50mL to heat up enough where you can get the bar spinning?
I would say the first one takes 15-20 minutes because the oil bath is cold…but after that maybe 10. I’ve never used my magnetic stirrer to heat oil so I couldn’t tell you time’s with a stirrer.
That’s not exactly cold. I’m talking about room temp distillate with homogenized terps mixed in already
It takes me ~25 minutes to heat/mix/fill/cap
How long does tour mix sit in the crock pot?
I agree with ya, personally. But selling carts that look 2/3 full to people who don’t really understand/care about the why it looks 2/3 full, is kinda a pain in the ass.
We’ve filled large orders of carts for other companies and they got them and that’s the first thing they noticed. So that’s why people do it.
Ya it’s just cold relative to everyone else’s temp.
@qma It’s in the crock for about an hour on low before it gets mixed.
So while my oil is sitting in a cart cooling down, yours is still warming up?
I would like to understand your reasoning for warm mixing and filling. Because at that temp your mix is not homogeneous.
When I mix/fill hot I run too fast for color change. I run too fast for terp degradation too. I just ran a batch of disty+hte, and the end product was amazing. I dont get leaks on my coils either, and i cap every 100 carts
I already have oil being filled while that oil is heating up. It’s not like I’m waiting on oil. I’ve had carts sit for two years without separating. I definitely get it homogenized at those temps.
You arent tracking. It takes you an hour just to heat. During that hour your oil is exposed to air. My oil gets exposed to air/under heat for 25 min at most. There is a principle called heat time. The longer you heat an object, the more severe the effects than shorter and hotter.
Just because your carts don’t separate does not mean they are homogeneous. This is about all the time i can afford you, I cant spend time arguing with people that don’t know better. Its 2020
I haven’t experienced any degradation or oxidation with my SOP. You don’t have to try and prove anything to me. You should read How to Win friends and influence people if you want to increase your business. Being an abrasive asshole doesn’t help bring in more sales.
