I had the same experience with the liberty v9s i used to flip and got it looking proper, then i got lazy on the last batch of 500 and left them sitting up right, they all look like rhey are 3/5-4/5 full, not good for sales. I definitly put 1g in them and kept it below 150F.
I dont have this problem with ascents ceramic carts though, thats why i got lazy haha
I had this happen when I did not put the cap on right away. I went to colorado without putting the caps on and when I came back 3 days later they were half full
I try to keep around the same temp as you. set the hot plate to 61-63c. more than that and it runs out of the syringe. I think is problem is that he is not seeing the oil get stuck on the drum. maybe he has them buried in the styrofoam too much so he can’t see it… I had the same problem a few hours ago.
I’ve filled about 1k carts. All from cc knockoffs, ascents ceramics, and the type I got from concentrated. I’ve only experienced the carts “leveling down” once with ascents ceramics. From reading this, I’m 100% sure it’s from me heating the extract too much. I use a double boiler and mix by hand a certain way.
I always cap asap after filling
Yeah the oil definitely WILL EXPAND when HOT.
Which means when it cools it retracts back down.
Hell I checked last time I was like at 170-190f whoops?
Set your gun to 1.05 and you are good. I havent noticed much more than that
I fill with practically pure distillate at 44c… hence why I wanted you to make the pneumatic version.
u got pneumatic version money?
Meant to say I get absolutely no space at all…Ideal temp for me is 124f. I only use cannabis derived terpenes so never going over 130f is a must.
do you lose flavor if you go higher?
Not if you move fast. If you are going hot, you want total heated time as low as possible.
Something not requiring the squeezing of the hand. I probably have parts I can send and we can jerry rig it
Definitely…I also store finished/packaged carts in a refrigerator dedicated to concentrates.
I think you sent it set at 1.05 or I picked this up from you while back!
I’m gonna turn it down some on temp. Only reason I was so hot was worried the gun might clog. What’s the PERFECT temp for the QMA special?
My oil doesn’t even want to move at anything less than 60c. How do you get it going that low?
I cant speak for @conscioushealingaz but I will say we tried as bunch of different methods, and ended up pressurizing the supply side with N2 and using mechanical rather than check-valves.
Cold oil is a pain to fill.
You can just use pressurized air, it doesn’t have to be nitrogen unless people are letting it sit there for forever . Cold filling is a pain but when you understand you’ll never have leaks from not capping fast enough (carts have to be capped within an hour which is plenty of time) it’s more than worth the struggle. My defect rate is less than .1% with a lot of data. The number one decrease was lowering filling temperatures.
I read a lot of log files People let stuff sit way more often than I thought initially. But you are correct, clean pressurised air works too, although I’ll never reflect that in my docs
thanks for the advice but I’m pretty small currently that gear is well out of my budget. I can’t even justify a homogenizer atm lol. I’m quick with the capping but I have noticed my oil gets stuck on the drum when I’m filing too hot. I can always tell the problem carts because when I flip them the oil surrounding the drum will get stuck and a bubble forms in the middle. Going to start uncapping the bottom before I fill and see if that doesn’t solve it
That’s where I’d rather fill slightly cooler and be able to let the carts sit uncapped for longer. You should be filling as fast as possible to limit the amount of time the oil is heated. Lower temps also allow the oil to sit longer. It’s a win win.
