The PI I worked under is a bad ass organic chemist and he said all through his schooling to get his PhD he never wore gloves… literally blew my mind but makes me think of how little safety they cared about.

The vast majority of chemistry, especially in an academic setting, is very small scale. What’s the danger of a few mLs of any substance is the mindset. When you move to industrial processing, it becomes much more important
I did my fair share of organic chem in my undergrad so I’m well aware of the scale aspect to all this. Doesn’t mean that a few micrograms of the wrong reagent on your hand couldn’t give you some bad side-effects. Just blew my mind when he told me about that.

When you play around with HF, even few drops, you should still prefer gloves…

No it doesn’t go through most plastics. It attacks glass, and the bones.
You would even fill no burn at all, it passes the skin. You will only notice when it will reach the bone…

The process to recarbbing isn’t that hard. Just dangerous. If anyone wants the exact process contact me. I’ll give it to you for free of you buy the specialized chamber from me. Of you still Wana know just hot me up - it’s easy but requires some specialty gear. It takes about half the time to recarb as it does to decarb.

The high pressure and CO2 are an option no clue about yield but there are normal athmosferic routes with high yields 80+%

While Elliot isn’t wrong, he’s definitely not right… Yes, there are high pressure carboxylations, though like Rogue said, there are those that happen under much more benign conditions.
Those/that method are what wer’re discussing here. Safe, easy, and they don’t require one to buy any “specialty chamber” to perform.
As Elliot said, his method is dangerous and requires specialty equipment.

I’d add: Know every word of your regulations. When I build/develop etc anything that requires fire / health / building / review/inspection/approval as a rule, these guys constantly fuk up. They misquote and don’t know the regulations and demand shit that’s unnecessary. I always have a code that I quote to support what I’m doing (rule from fire code or building code or local municipal code).
If they say your wall isn’t 2hr fire rated, you pull out the approved specs for the material used and demonstrate it is. I recently had a fire marshal tell me I needed a 12inch water line with 3.6 shit tons of water for my proposed building. I pulled out the code that said I was exempt from fire code and from pulling a building permit, served the exemption on the fire marshal, the city attorney and the building department. After they freaked the f out, they accepted the exemption.
Know your codes and use them to support everything you build. They (fire, building etc) cannot decline anything that’s supported by the code they’re required by law to follow. If they hesitate, remind them that last part.
