ADD editing Capabilities For Trust Level 2+3

There is a middle ground here, like some css or non invasive changes that would not break the forum during an update but might cease to work.
You sound like you are technically capable of see how and where these changes would take place. If we fork it we fork the whole thing, not a bad thing depending on how much is changed but you get changes cause breakages and we arnt discourse devs.

I am open though, hire a dev send him my way with some ideas and we’ll go over what they all mean in the long run. We can do this publicly via a meta thread. Maybe its time for a new thread about it already.

i bet we could simply picket on the discourse community to find a discourse dev and pay them to add our edits. straight to the source. setup a donation banner at the top of the website and users can donate to keep said coder on the roster for our unique mods we want taken care of?

Yeah that sounds feasible.

In all seriousness I’ve seen glg memberships pay for themselves and then save money on an order same week of getting the membership. On lifetime memberships

Oh hai

i gave over 19k in GLG discounts in 2020. That means a shit ton of people got their monies worth. Most GLG sales discounts are for amounts over a membership…

this amounts to be about $400k of sales just from members of a club. I could have bought a personal lifetime membership as im a single person and gotten all the same benefits.

The glg and this forum help make my business…this is a way of giving back… i dont slap the hand thats feeding me

ive ran a few forums and created some from scratch using OOTB softwares over the years. most notably HKpro.com back when they ran VBulletin and when i was a real HK fanboy ;-). i havent fucked around with that shit in many years though but i know how simple it could be if we had some donations to future4200.com to keep shit maintained more to our liking

I honestly think paying someone to convert forum threads into wiki articles is the way the money should go. A wiki is like 99% of what people are bitching about and dont even know it.

Right off the bat the GLGs got $10k on forum improvements

We aren’t debating glg memberships benefit on glg members, we are debating who bears the burden of the glg, which is almost exclusively future vendors. If the glg didn’t exist, it would be a net positive for me at this moment and in the past. I don’t get any benefits from servicing glg members, but I am for sure a glg resource, as inthe past I have given discounts and priority, and have always given them free info when called.

This isn’t basic info. This is major plugs, trade secrets, and operation saving techniques

Nobody is forcing you to do that. But I’m sure we’ve talked about bringing you into the gang as an affiliate and I just dropped the ball. More than willing to fix that

Eh, I’m still kinda sore about a situation in oklahoma, where a gang member bought about 6k in product and then demanded a refund when he was using his product like no one on earth would expect. I made a query thread and no one agreed that the cart maker was correct. I still refunded them because they were glg.

I don’t need the advertising, but I for sure don’t need negative feedback or a damaged reputation, regardless if the person in question is an idiot. Even if I am not a gang affiliate, I treat your people with respect, because it is just basic business to not shit on the hands that feed you, or their slower cousins hands either.

I think this will lead to a lot of people going back and attempting to make themselves look better. Yeah, the edit history is there but it’s annoying to sift through a bunch of edits and then attempting to put the context back together of the people that followed up the post. What about the people who responded to the post you are editing? Don’t really see the benefit personally vs just following up a post. Nothing personal, just my thought.

One of the benefits of being a GLG member, paying or affiliate, is that I offer 3rd party mediation. Fucking PotGuru bought a GLG membership, look at how that worked out. On the membership side, random people on the Internet buy a membership. I’m open to suggestions on how I might verify they aren’t bad people, but I’m not interested in running a blacklist type thing.

Make them contribute something more than the dollar fee, ie a few others including myself. That way you know their intentions for the community are in best interests.

Make random people on the Internet contribute more than money? Like what?
