I will empty my collection vessel & run material that was not grown nor kept fresh. Its older very dry material that is starting to degrade. Etching jars is no bueno. It can cause a BOOM. It’s happened and documented onnhere in the past.
Then take a glass slide and scratch that.
U don’t have to scratch anything, reduce to thinner oil if live no pressure, if not live it’ll be lil thick might need to keep lik more solvent which will add more pressure
I never scratch the bottom of my ball jars for jartek. Yes in the laboratory setting using the proper tools & lab glass; I’ve etched quite a bit. It has been used in a variety of experiments & procedures for a long time. I use a dimond etching bit made for borosilicate glass. All the times I’ve scratched the bottom of a ball jar i see no difference between those & the ones I don’t scratch. And the most important reason for me is safety. I think the ball jar takes a whole lot of abuse as it is in jartek.Creating deep enough scratches can easily result in stress fractures.
I’m not getting anything out of a cert % of jars. And I’ve tried multiple blends. I have a nozzle on the bottom of my heated collection vessel & my solvent t as need is bran new and sit in dry ice with 2 5lb columns with dewaxing columns are dry ice filled. Jars get cold crash except & around 10% there is little becomes little to no dimonds.
