Will have a some more pics to come end of November. We are butchering two for ourselves and then we sold a few whole pigs from our first litter that will be custom cut. Next spring/summer is when I’m projecting things are really going to be taking off. At that point we Will have usda inspected individual cuts for sale. Plan to sell locally and also be doing shipping.
Made some home made maple sausage. Turned out fire. Top pic is after cutting the ground pork with some fat, added like 20 percent since the ground pork we currently have on hand is super lean. Second pic is with seasonings all mixed in. Hyped on it. Made right under 15lbs.
My cousin has his red wattles out in the polar vortex weather. I thought for sure they would freeze to death. But their survival instincts are amazing. Give them a round bale of hay and they rip it up, make bedding, and then burrow down underneath it to survive the cold. A lot of humans arent that smart.
Ours have done really well in the sub zero temps. Extremely hardy animals
That should be a stamp
Well a little update about the farm. The smoker has been a game changer. We have so much more reach now compared to selling wholes, cuts, etc… The amount of support we are receiving from the local community is insane and tbh gives me hope for society lol. We will have done 5 events this month, we have 3 lined out next month already and next summer is getting booked out quick. If anyone here in WA have any events they need bbq at let me know!
Obligatory pig/dog picture
One more. These guys (atleast the bigger ones in front) have another 1.5 months before they get butchered. Growing out really nice. Been rewarding to see our genetics getting better and better.
so do we get first dibs on CSA boxes on the forum or what?
What are you feeding them @Pupparoo ? They look good!
It’s a corn and soy free ration. Barley, garbanzo beans, lentils, peas and a mineral/vitamin mix. Get it from a local guy, all stuff grown down on the Palouse.
Duuuuuude. I probably said this before, but mad fucking jealous. Beautiful little pigs. Trying to cop 53 Hazelnut trees innoculated with truffles, and a bunch of pigs, myself.
You’re definitely on the right track with the smoker. End-products are where it’s at.
Keep on keepin on.
Thanks dude! We love our pigs, they are easy keepers and pretty funny animals!
I was married for 12 years with a step mother and step kid to support.
Does that count?
It was generally frowned upon to consider sending them to a butcher.
HAHAH! WOW! Child murder is HILARIOUS

I wanna live in a world where posts like this get more likes
Seems contradictory to say we butcher our pigs and we love our pigs in the same thread. Hope you don’t love your family to
Should he be a dick to the pigs and beat them or something?
