Where can I find a sight glass for this?

Could you weld a new sight glass on it and dye check it if I brought it in?

Sight glasses are held in with seals or some kind of mechanical method of sealing, I don’t know of a way to weld a sight glass perse…

Just get a new lens made using the previous one as a reference. If you really want you could put it in, and pressure test but DO NOT put flammable solvents in this tank, at least until you’ve verified in some reliable way it wont fail.

We aren’t set up to do chemical cleaning or dye check here (commercial business regulations). And I can’t speak for the company, but I’m sure that is something we would have to first make sure our liability will cover that type of process. It’s why it’s actually easier to do yourself most the time and a lot less expensive. I know of an aviation company in Nor Cal that does it, but to my knowledge they don’t do outside work. I will do some investigating and see what I can find for you though. If you happen to be around sometime, stop by and I’ll chat with you about it and see what I can do to help you. I totally understand the cost in some of this equipment, so testing could be a great option if the cost is right.

I think what he means is if we could weld an entirely new piece onto the tank with a common size glass. The short answer is yes, a new piece can be welded on. BUT, making sure the tank is in good working order first would obviously be the priority.

That’s good. I’ll look forward to it. I’ll be with @710enigmatic on 4/20 in the Bay. NorCal peeps come see us!

Wrong thread! Meant to post on the GLG art coin thread. Whoops!

OSHA approves

What is the material/show us a nameplate. It is very unlikely that fire would cause 300 series stainless to be mechanically compromised. Hydrotest to proof pressure is all I would suggest if it’s 304/316. You can buy weld on sight glasses from glacier tank for cheap money

That tank needs a serious cleaning

Need a whole new tank. Common sense tells me not to trust this, even if it’s refurbished.

That’s saying something
