What strains are you currently hunting for a keeper?

What are you looking for? Or just waiting for a standout?
What are u looking for in the males? Ive always been curious about others selection criteria for males

Ya I’d love to if possible. What’s the price on 10?

For instance right now im trying to bring out more of the hindu kush nose on the boax while still keeping it super vigorous and of course compliant.

On the 1:1’s im looking first and foremost for something thats killer.

Then the killers we are growing out now will be tested for ratios to pick which clones to keep in rotation.

Im obviously looking for plants which resemble the clone mothers but have cannibinoid profiles of the seed fathers

Nice were the killers based on smoke test or just looks and smell?
What traits are u looking for in the males when doing ratio breeding, are u reversing the males and testing them?

For now you will have to hit me on my email humbleseeds@protonmail.com

Im not verified yet as a seed slanger.

To answer, its a tester still until we can determine that its a keeper. Im growing it and another guy is too and u can be 3 if u want. I have no reason to believe that it will not be JTR but we dont know where the male came from. We want to make sure theyre regular seeds and if theyre not we will have to keep an eye out for nanas as we dont know where the donor pollen came from. Maybe a neighbor as there were no males.

I havent tested the males yet only the offspring.

However when we sent in our pre harvest compliance testing i thought i was being slick and threw in a bunch of males into the test batch. The test batch (25 2" tops) came back at .25%thc the same as my r&d testing came back of 1 single bud. It was pretty consistent across the board. Now we are growing it inside and im waiting on the preliminary test results from week4 flowering

The 1:1 killers are based on same as it always is. Vigor and bag appeal. The ratios are second to the fact that its a keeper. Who doesnt want a 1:1 gg4??

R u saying u had a test of 25 male tops or just some males in there?

:sob: lol no i estimated how many males were in the field (30%) and so i threw 30% male tops 8 or 9 I dont remember

…and i breed pretty much everything on smell. Im not a scientist and im not classically trained so i have to go with what i already know which is how plants smell and which ones i like based on how they smell.

Thanks for the reply. Its always so hard to pick a male, and the fact that some preflowering terps smell amazing and then once its dried and cured its just meh, makes me hesitant on just picking based on smell. I always end up picking one for vigour and structure and the other for terps. So most my breeding involves 2 dads per line and i usually pop the vigour ones first and if they are good, i pop the terp ones to see if theres anything better. Usually the vigour one is the one i go with.
We had a flower that smelled EXACTLY like a cantaloupe/melon during preflower and mid flower. We called her big melons because she was also girthy. Once it was dried and cured, it was more like a grape lemon smell, sorta dissapointing because its easy for us to find a lemon grape pheno and those usually are wayyy sweeter while growing. They smell like candy, but when they are dried and cured it moves more into a true fruit smell.

Our true winners are ones that still look good, smell good and smoke good 4 months after its been harvested.
2/3 of our gummy punch will offer a sweet grape pheno, which is not a good profile for storing. The other 1/3 has this copper funk mixed with grape, those can last a year before u start going, oh this is going bad.

Our rose mimosa will dish out two profiles aswell, one is a sweet candy orange and the other is a mellow marlmalade orange mixed with a hint of wine (aged grapes). The sweet candy orange are amazing in concentrate form, but not so much flower form. The ones that have the hint of aged grapes, last a long time and have amazing terps even over a year later

Time/light does degrade Terps. Harvest 1 week earlier vs 1 week later can be a world of difference in profiles.

Harvest Fresh and flash freeze is best IMO

I agree a week earlier if youre going to blast it

Then blast frozen and the terps will stay around much longer in the mother liquor

I try to pull those preflowering terps all the way through to the end. If I lose them along the way I know it can do better next time, male or female.

Just popped some beans from Kind seeds (iirc) out of Oregan

A good friend made a lot of crosses with a solid cut of Peanut Butter Breath and I have a whole line of them going.

The crosses I’m working with are:

Wedding Cake x PBB
Cherry Garcia x PBB
PBB S1

And a bonus velveeta breath x French cookies.

I’m doing a large run of Cherry Garcia x PBB. The fan leaves are massive.

Nice sounds interesting. I have a cut of peanut butter blast (peanut butter breath x Apollo 11) from michiganrootz420. Super gas, top it once and it pretty much trains itself. Keeps its canopy low and wide 2+ per de
