took me a lot to decarb to the same no stink level with an open beaker and heat gun
the vac decarb sure seems to pull a lot of the shitty stink into your shitty rotovap pump instead of your spd high vacuum pump way easier to keep my big pump clean, upgrading to another cold trap on my fullbore setup
What temperature do you winterize at with your methanol? Are you still doing room temp winterization
If Iām working with dark ethanol crude I do it your way, if Iām extracting I go with hexane. Methanol sucks to evaporate so I try to use the least amount as possible
Iāve just ordered a 55 gallon drum of both hexane and methanol from carbon chemistry and will be switching very soon.
Iāve been throwing it into freezer for 8 hours, I do a warm filter then a cold filter. I could use water to winterize at room temp but it have to reproof my methanol and thatās too much work IMO lol
Does anyone know if the Panda spinnerās seals are compatible with hexane?
Currently have my extract sop dialed in for cold ethanol wondering hexane could just be a simple drop in solvent replacement or if I would need to switch up equipment
Thanks for clarifying, had a feeling I had too many steps and it could be simplified.
how much for the hex and methanol from CC i just got 10 gallons from best value vacs for 160 shipped
The 55gal hexane was $1200 and 55gal methanol was $315. Freight shipping was $600 but I also ordered 5gal heptane, 5kg T-5, 5kg T-41, 2kg MagsilPR, and 25g degumming powder.
I will change out and weld on a new spout with sanitary triclamp pipe
I get drums of methanol for 400 and drums of hexane for 620 from hardware factory store here in LA
do they ship lol
Yes, they carry carbon chem stuff too I just hooked them up as a supplier with them ![]()
This may be a silly question but do you ever have to dry water from your hexane? I wouldnāt think it would pickup much but I already have 40kg of proof up beads from carbon chemistry I use to dry my ethanol and wondering if I will need them to dry hexane or not.
whats the name can you DM me the number or something appreciate it!
If you do water washes yes, hexane and heptane both dissolve a little water. Youāll notice youāll pull some chloraphyll when you extract if theres some water in there. I encourage you to not water wash with the same hexane you extract with unless you want to have to proof up all the time.
Thanks brotha and will copy ;>
Ok thanks again for all the help. Iāll plan on doing water washes with heptane and only using the hexane for extraction.
