Don’t knock the coconut oil. Dry gaskets are not your friend. I’d rather coconut oil leach into product over dry soap residue…
There’s no soapy residue ime. Alconox. I’m knocking the coconut oil, fuck that. Just as bad as cema telling me to grease that v3 ring on the new sintered filter, fuck that. Have multiple sets of gaskets and rotate. Date the bags they are stored in and change out as needed. Cmon, no freaking lube guys.
You’ve convinced me lol. No lube here.
You’re a better artist for it @Curious_Roberto.
That is such a terrible feeling. I don’t smoke/use nicotine and I ripped a friends mod the other day (just for shits) Fucked me up. Lol
I totally disagree. Gaskets should be lubricated or they will prematurely fail.
Using a food grade lubricant is the way to go.
Ok we can agree to disagree. My gaskets never crack and when they start to get flat, I replace em. I have several sets I rotate. Makes better sense to me then potentially introducing foreign contaminant into your process stream.
Agree, it’s not a bad idea to consider them consumables. With proper care they last decent time, and overall the cost is minimal.

You can also get smaller ones from them for pretty cheap.
Raw doggggggggg!
Some suggest lubing Swagelok parts with coconut oil, as well. I advocate for keeping a supply of large medium and small O-rings for replacing leaky females. Massage your partner with remaining coconut oil.
I dunno wtf dr component is but I strictly fuks wit Dixon, or rubberfab fwiw @Curious_Roberto
I haven’t ever had a gasket crack either.
I’ve have no complaints with their gaskets. It looks like the are a gasket manufacturer, they do gaskets for fridges and other items
I used to lube my old crc insert discs by spraying the gasket with some iso. That would let me slide right in. At least you can purge off the iso if you use it
Maybe wash the fats from your dewax. Cannabis derived lube…
I credit @Roguelab
When running active, You can use a single water reservoir to run against your evaporation base and your condenser. The water will stay at room temperature as long as there is liquid butane or propane in the evaporation base. Basically the energy used cancels each other out for the most part. No need to heat or chill anything. Although adding supplemental heat and chilling will speed things up.
Im pretty sure a lot of recovery pumps use some sort of grease in the bearings, probably PTFE food grade grease. I’m wondering if a small amount of Virgin coconut oil (Foodgrade) on the gaskets would really make a huge difference. If trace amounts are in extracts does that disqualify it from being safe for human consumption?
Im not using it like some folks are with carts, where its potentially 2-5%. Im thinking if i have Coconut oil its gonna be on a PPM scale. Totally open for discussion id like to see some evidence that its unsafe or not ideal to use. I get that gaskets should just be replaced regularly because they dry out and crack over time. peace and love.
Whatever you wanna do @Gettinglearnt. I’m not trying to sway you I’m telling you my personal preference. I don t make bho with coconut oil in it. I don’t run a recovery pump either so that’s all the discussion I can really offer on the topic. Do what you wish. I’m not going to condone any type of agent being used on the gasket. Lots of love, & light all.
Had something similar happen pressing pounds of Dutch treat in a sealed garage. Terps got so overwhelming it made me nauseous and I had to stop. I don’t care for the smell or taste of Dutch treat though. Never had that happen with any other strains.
It’s that dogwalker isn’t it? That burnt rubber chem stank chokes me out everytime
