I haven’t seen this mentioned yet so I’ll throw this out there. I use these vibration isolation pads under my scale; the improvement in function is dramatic.

you can improve this even further placing those isolation adapters to the underside of a granite surface block; and set your scale on top of it. you can take it even further by putting cork(i used drink coasters) underneath the rubber isolation adapters and itll make it even more “absorbing”

Adding on, if you wanted to go that route you would need their bigger pads with a higher load rating:

Does anybody have any tricks for removing a filter ring and paper? Just getting into CRC, this step seems like it’s going to be quite the pain in the ass…

hot dog bag is a slick trick, now get a stand and serve it up flamboyantly.ill take mine with sport pepper.

I think I saw someone mention using fishing line during installation to make removal easier. Most people I know just use something narrow, but with a blunt edge to get underneath the ring carefully and work around in a circle so it comes up a little easier.

How to keep your 5gallon bucket from breaking while using dry ice without buying an igloo cooler. Styrofoam bucket inserts.

is alcohol and styrofoam compatible? I had a strange thing happen once where the alcohol soaked through the styrofoam? It was dripping through it. I returned the cooler but figured they dont go together so havent tried that again. I have plastic coolers.

That was probably acetone…which eats styrofoam (among other things)

However, I’ve also run into a style of styrofoam cooler used for shipping that doesn’t hold water. I believe it’s deliberate.

90 percent iso, It didnt dissolve it but literally soaked through. It was a likely a bad container is why I returned it. I couldnt see any cracks.

Boosting your chilling capacity with extra line and a trashcan full of alcohol. Just add dry ice. I also put my tank in there. I sprayed expanding foam inbetween the two cans.

Inline fuel filter for those who have breaching problems on filtration. I got tired of rebuilding feed plates and changing wiper blades so this is the cheapest solution ($3 each). Just place it right before the inlet to your rotary evaporator. This is not a good food grade option but I know that show diesel trucks have steel and glass fuel line filters which are re packable. I’m sure the hobbyist on here can fashion a filter for the steel/glass ones to make it food grade.

on my 3" ones it sucked horribly. I ground down a flat head that had a shaft diameter small enough to fit through the perforated holes in the filter plate. flip the plate over, one good wack with a hammer against the ring through the hole in the perforated disc would create a gap. flip back over and use a big flat head to work around the ring to get it out.
