So I’m quickly realizing distillation takes quite awhile to complete, and adding a second pass would add quite a bit of time. My question is would it be possible to possible to run the condenser on my 5l directly into a 1l boiling flask and mantle and run the second pass simultaneously off the same pump if it was large enough?

the dual stage trick is certainly played with WFE.
seems like it might work with SPD.

A vacuum sealed discharge pump would be advantageous for positioning and holding separate vacuum levels in each chamber, also I’d see issues unless you staggered your runs with drying up.

Any idea what I might be looking st price wise to add a WF column, and I would I be able to use the column in conjunction with the SPD?
We would stagger to get the build up in the second system and ideally would like to have the same level of vacuum in both stages
How fast did you think the process was?

A wiped film is a complete different unit. No your spd will he useless with it. Unless you want cleaner refinements. Wf for speed. Spd to clean it

Ideally you’d want two separate vacuums so you can do a lower temp polish on the second stage therefore two sealed systems would be best imo. I run my first polish around 160 and second as close to 145 deg C as I can (usually 149-152)

I knew it would take quite a few hours, but I’m slowly speeding up, I’ve done 3 runs so far the longest taking about 14 hours cause I went reaaaaaally slow and the quickest bringing about 8 hours from 3 liters of starting material. I guess time isn’t a big issue for us, but it would be nice to be able to do the second pass at the same time as the first pass without having to handle the sample again
Why wouldnt you just disconnect your flask and put a new one on and start a smaller spd run seperate.
Ypur going to get deeper vacuum on your 2nd pass. So having the 5L ahead of it offgassing will screw up pressures

2nd pass is way faster. If you do a thrid its basically jump to cannabinoids and go

I have only run the first pass on this material and we can’t decide if a second pass would even really be all that worth it (which is part of the he reason we were hoping to do it at the same time). What else could I be pulling in with my cbd that would be lowering the end %? Thc fraction was definitely done and I let some cbd run over before switching.
Just get another setup, after the first day you can be doing 1st and 2nd passes at the same time. That is a really long time for a run, also couldn’t hurt to optimize your existing setup and shave off some time
We’re still trying to figure out how quickly we can jump, we have shaved off about 4 hours so far and are hoping we can complete a run in about 5-6 hours. Any suggestions on how the shave some time off?
I would normally ask how runny is it. But its cbd?
I bet you still have stuffin it. I always get a little terps out of 2nd pass
Yes cbd and it’s pretty thick
When did you finish it? It crytallizes relatively fast
Without know your whole setup and vacum setups, thers a few suggestions but there just general. Go as big of a Bore as possible make sure you vac pumps are adequate and pulling as deep of vac as possible and well maintained.

It was finished Wednesday night/Thursday morning. The first batch we ran is def crystallized and that was completed on monday

Do you have access to testing? You can test it to see if your where you want to be.
Honestly the first pic looks fine. You could 2nd pass it but if you did a solid 1st pass its considered “good enough”
