Question about CBD dosage and consumption

This morning I saw Future’s IG post about how the snake oil salesmen like to push very low dose products. It got me thinking, I took a hard pass on CBD a while back because when I tried it, I didn’t feel one damn thing. Now as far what I’m looking for in CBD is reducing my anxiety and help me sleep better. The products I tried were indeed 50mg tinctures. Future’s post said that most people need 300mg to feel any positive effects.

So my question is this; if I buy some isolate for personal supply, can I just mix a gram of it in my orange juice daily? Can it be consumed this way? And is a gram too much and can that give unwanted side effects? And if so what dosage do you guys recommend.

Thank you.

1 gram is too much for a one time daily dose. I’ve read some studies that say liver damage is possible at that dose, I’m unable to search for the paper right now. I think you’d want to aim for a 100mg dose for a noticable feeling, I think 3g /30mL tinctures would be the best for that orally.

Also was interested in that IG post… I would start with 300mg a day and see if you notice a difference. Not a whole gram. Shouldn’t matter how you consume it, I wouldn’t think.

They also say isolated CBD is less effective. So I would try full/broad spec.

isnt bioavailability a big factor in how effective it will be? isolate is not water soluble. nano water soluble cbd is not the same as isolate so if you took 300 mg of each youd experience MAJOR differences no?
thats what really threw me off about the post…

and then its like the only reply he would give is “u mad bro?” to cbd suppliers. ive seen 30mg water soluble caps… am i really misinformed here? @Future

That’s a good point. Bioavailability should make a difference. Like you said, your body is going to metabolize more mg of CBD from 300mg of water soluble than 300mg of isolate.

you can definitely run into kidney and liver issues with chronic consumption of cbd–reminds me of a post on here where a guy was dabbing like a g a day of CBD and ended up with acute kindey failure.

If you want to begin higher level dosing, here’s what I’d do:

  • to 250mg of isolate, add 3 mL of MCT oil
  • shake to dissolve
  • to this mixture, add 500mg of lecithin (can buy super cheap off amazon)
  • mix with a few ounces of whatever you’re drinking
  • shake the hell out of the resulting drink; you’ll make a coarse emulsion in the process

^you can scale this up 10x or 100x, etc.

it just seems blatantly ignorant to act like all 300 mg are treated equal to me… but i just learned more in depth about how or why this is possible and its application over the decades.

we KNOW if you dab 300 mg vs mixing 300 mg distillate in water and drinking it is different. so 10 nano softgels are definitely WAY different than a quarter ounce 300 mg MCT tincture.

isnt epidiolex an mct tincture with far less bioavailability than nano? are we claiming 300mg because there “isnt enough clinical data on water solubles yet?”

if so… maybe we should stop shitting on a lower than average water soluble dose until the hard evidence is out. if there is already proven evidence that bioavailability is negligible between the methods of ingestion then i’m misinformed and would love some help understanding where im going off track.

I have found through research that 1mg to 6mg per 10lbs of the body weight with the 1mg to 6mg being the scale of pain or anxiety and not to exceed 200mg a day. The kidneys can only process so much and the body only needs so much depending on the ailment. This is a dosage that is based on ingestion using an elixir or tincture. I would love to hear others opinions. I have found that starting lower for diseases like Parkinson disease is best so the dose can be raised due to tolerance.

Do you have a source for “kidneys can only process 200mgs a day” ?

That study was ripped apart pretty good by Project CBD.

It ran in Forbes and caused some alarm.

Here is the project cbd rebuttal which has links back to the originals.

what is the difference of consuming CBD vs CBG?

Cbg is active for me orally at 30 mg in terms of anti inflammatory effects and relaxation
Note: I don’t feel 30 mg THC orally

This is one article I found that explains it from medium. Google cbd awareness project dosage guide and many others.

CBG seems to be more noticeable for more people for many of the same indications.
The combination of the two is far superior in my opinion.

Cbg is an anti convulsive and anti anxiety as well as a growth hormone vs CBD which is mainly an anti inflammatory which is what causes the majority of our issues. Cbg is big in all hybrids for the most part. Cbn is full indica and for sleep and thc-v is sativa and for focus and alertness.

So if I understand this correctly, if I’m looking to reduce anxiety and get better sleep, I would need to take CBG and CBN? And if I just took straight CBD, it wouldn’t really help with what I’m looking for?

Anxiety is one of the things CBD helps most with. Check out this review in the Journal of The American Pharmacists Association: https://sci-hub.se/downloads-ii/2019-12-28/c6/10.1016@j.japh.2019.11.008.pdf

“In the studies reviewed, CBD consistently demon- strated improved clinical outcomes in anxiety disorders, with a minimal adverse-effect profile.”

CBD and CBN is a good mix for that. Delta 8 doesn’t hurt either.
