That’s a neat idea for ventilation. A long time ago, an aquarium air pump bubbling outside air into a jar of peroxide was my fresh air.
Are you applying a casing to the colonized media in the box? It makes them flush a little more slowly, but fruit are bigger and the media is protected from contamination by the casing. I think mine was peat, vermiculite, and oyster shells. In Florida, cased trays will fruit like crazy outside.
Agar plate transfers solve this before transferring agar to grain. Helps isolate good mycellium from bad bacteria. I’m sure you’ve already learned this!
