Well looks like Phylos is not doing sex testing anymore … as a small breeder / grower this is a key part in time/cost savings. Anyone know another company providing this service?

I don’t know how often you are doing this. And I don’t know how much you are paying for this service.
We used to do our sexing in house - with old school gel electrophoresis. Looks like they have updated the technology quite a bit and even made it portable and with a nice user interface. Check it out Chai Bio.
So if you are doing this often - or if the lab charges you a lot, you might consider investing. Its like 5k and its got open source programming… and you can use it with lots of different kits (so if you wanted to do more with than just sexing…you could).
Anyway - figured I’d mention it.

So is this to save a week or 2? help me learn. I tried clones last year for the first time and am not super impressed so im back to pheno hunts. Most strains can show sex in a month or a little longer so what the sexing testing gonna do if I dont even know if its a keeper pheno yet? I didnt get hermies .
I’ve got one in storage somewhere too, no clue how to even start with it

Wasn’t Phylos stealing everyone’s genetics and was building a “library”. They smelled fishy years ago. But I enjoy culling males old school. Is it that much harder, I’ve used the cards but like I said I enjoy the hunt.
Is time the issue with waiting for the balls to drop?

You can test for sex as early as 7-10 days after sprouting

How long do you feel it takes to sex plants? I just wetted mf seeds and I think theyll be sexed in 35 days, they arent popped just wetted prior to planting. Then i have to grow them out to see which are keepers. I cant have a single garden of non keeper phenos

With PCR testing you can test at approximately 14 days old, but truly after its first set of true leafs come in.
With growing, 2 weeks into flower before sex is revealed give or take? Maybe 42 days give or take?
they gave me extras- 13 seeds. they take zero space to sex so my main issue with mf is i get horrible ratios and its usually males.
i got alot of strains that show 30 days or less, some do take more.
