PID controller help

Plastic it is!

Hello.

I have a PID heat controller, canā€™t remember exact brand believe inkbird, but I have my PID connected to an outlet, thats wired to a light switch to turn it on, and that light switch is wired to an extension cord to plug into the wall. I have a 12V wire thats wired up to my heat pads on my syringe gun but when I enter in my set heat on the PID, 130 to see if it works and the thermocouple barely went up, stayed at 78-80F

What am I doing wrong?

Starting a NEW thread!

If you need to discuss the functionality (or lack there of) of this device, you should add to the thread you already started describing the construction of said deviceā€¦

Edit: threads merged. You wanna know why it doesnā€™t work, show us what you actually built and let folks compare it to the wiring diagrams discussed aboveā€¦

Just one?!?

DC requires TWO wiresā€¦

Was the thermocouple anywhere near the heat pad?

The pad is supposed to heat. The thermocouple is just supposed to report the temp in its local environmentā€¦certainly seen folks burn stuff in the boiling flask because they left the probe on the bench.

Yes i have it right next to them. And i dont even feel the pads heat up.

Thing is my front camera broke:/ i can try to post from other phone but quality will TANK heavily. I can draw a diagram

I have bought new pads that are wider as well.

Lemme draw a diagram and post

Diagram will show us what you think you builtā€¦

True?

Thenā€¦?!?

As in: ā€œI got it working, then changed some stuff, and now it doesnā€™tā€?!?

Donā€™t see how diagrams are gonna cut itā€¦

Diagram AND pictures to document that the diagram is correct & the components agree will be required if you want to solve this here. Imo.

I meant it worked as in turned on

But heat never went to the pads

Hereā€™s a very low quality video I tried my best with this

Well it wonā€™t let me post it

I am late to the party, did not read this whole thread through, and use Wattlow PIDs. I THINK the issue is how you are wiring your ā€œoutletā€

EDIT: Completely wrong advice on my second part of this post.

I have a video Iā€™m trying to upload here but I canā€™t
It provides better context

What SP range does your PID have? Try operating it below the actual value your TC is reading and see if heat kicks on. If it does, TC wires are reversed. I donā€™t think that is the issue though.

I still canā€™t post it wtf

SP range?

Setpoint Range, assuming it has one

You want a temp controller enclosure with knockouts. You donā€™t need anything fancy. Just plastic. I believe you have a 16th din controller but double check me.
