Need some help on building my extractor

@DoablePath Do not use olive oil. Why possibly contaminate your oil? Gaskets are cheap.

That’s what tamisium recommended back in the day. No olive oil I guess @DoablePath but inspect gaskets before each run.

And you will need something to purge your oil or it will be poop soup. One of these should be sufficient, you need a small pump too.
the lid also can Also vac directly to the collection pot of the tamisium If you want to put your oil on some parchment and use the collection pot to purge

So these are some powders I was looking at that seemed inexpensive from amazon is any of these a nono for filtration?

@shattertramp I already have a 3 gallon vacuum chamber with glass lid from bacoeng and I also already have a vacuum pump from Kozyvacu (the one I bought is overkill but I barely have to run it for full vac

Kozyvacu 5CFM 2-Stage Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump (5.0CFM, 40Micron, 1/2HP) for HVAC/Auto AC Refrigerant Recharging, Degassing Wine or epoxy, Milking Cow or Lamb, Medical, Food Processing etc. Amazon.com

Also is a 94mm wide Büchner funnel too big for filtering what I’m running? It fits about 500ml in the funnel

I wouldn’t be the one to ask about filtration, but just for personal use you can get a decent product as is, there will be some lipids that can certainly be filtered out, but we’re talking about 5-10g oil per run so it’s gonna be small

When I last bought oil 14g would last me about 9 months lol so it’s perfect to me for what I need imo I do smoke quite a bit of flower as I do love my blunts 1-4 grams every night depending on how stoned me and my fiancée want to get lol

I know it’s going to be small but I’m also going to be doing winterization in ethanol(or atleast plan too) was thinking maybe 200-300ml of ethanol to dilute and filter it seems a lot to me though that’s why I’m wondering if I should use a smaller funnel instead

Don’t cut corners on filtration media. Go to @Killa12345 for quality products at a great price. For that small amount i would just run as cold as possible and skip winterization.

Thanks for the tip bud

I could do that but at the same time I want to try it out get my feet wet sort of speak and know what filter media’s to use

and my fiancée also doesn’t like darker extracts
(I don’t mind but happy wife happy life lol)

@Killa12345 what should I use for filter media’s I would like to be able to clean up the extract after so it’s more appealing to my fiancée when we go to use it

i really only suggest t5/silica mix if your looking for color remediation without the terp loss.

Where should I source my filter media from did you happen to look at the ones I posted In the feed those are the ones I was thinking of using and was suggested to ask you where I should go to buy my filter media and what to use

Meaning where should I buy it bvv??

@Killa12345 just realized if I open your profile your affiliated with a company that sells filtration media I’m going to assume that’s Guna be a good reliable place to order my media from

In your opinion though is my Büchner funnel too big for the amount of oil I would be producing(should I get a smaller one that’s non fritted?) I currently have a 94mm wide funnel with a 500ml capacity

Agreeing with your comment dude, i want to get into bho extraction and want to start simple. So open blast into pyrex in dry ice, filter and into a vaccum chamber whipped be okay to get started ? Then eventually closed loop recovery with an oven.

Did you ever end up getting that Tamisium? Just curious. Im on my 3rd Tamisium extractor since 2008. I had the small one for years, sold it to upgrade to the new gear out, ended up not happy with the new stuff and buying another small one a couple years ago. Its great for me to be able to test my stuff in a smaller run. I also ended up buying he next size up that can handle 1-2lbs of material. I am a huge fan of passive closed loop. No pumps, all done by temperature and pressure, and I recover all of my tane. Thats also why i bought a 20lbs tank of the purest I could find at 99.99%. .

Thank you to everyone who has helped me get up and running with making my own bho now that I’ve ran my tamisium for a while I’m looking to up my game I now have a stable source for plenty of material I’m looking to build a half point to a full pound extractor I have a game plan in mind I’ll be looking for some help and tips from @Killa12345 if he doesn’t mind

My main goals is I want to be able to Dewax in line with the only pump I need being my vacuum pump

Goal right now is to determine what’s important in determining how to size your dry ice dewaxing column material column I have a good idea of how to size the collection chamber as to my understanding you need to size it large enough to take the amount of gas you’re going to run plus some

I’m planning on using the 6l recovery tank that’s sold on the bvv website as to my understanding of the math I did with liquid density of butane being 36.05 In/ft^3 and
1 ft^3=1728in^3 and 1 in^3=16.387ml if I’m wrong PLEASE correct me on this I know this is important!!!

1Ib÷36.05x1728x16.387=785.485ml space for a pound of gas so using a 6l tank should allow me to have 6ibs of solvent = 4712.91ml which is just under 80 percent of the tank

I will upload a list of parts that I have found that is within my 1000 dollar rough budget budget 1200 tops to accomplish this later on with screenshots of shopping carts I put together
