Depends, I’m finding if I don’t heat, I get that larger crystal size, like rock salt size, but it takes a few days.
If I put it on a heatpad, it turns into an applesauce consistency.
If I’m patient, I let it sit at room temp, if not I heat.

There really is a wealth of knowledge here!
I absolutely intend to try the hot method.
I have been doing room temperature but the room is typically 80 to 85, lol.
In several miners instead of jars so I could try to figure out the viscosity and keep it there until growth stoped them lower the solvent level more to cause more to crash. Some success in the first 4 or 5 days if I freeze the miner and drop in 2 to 5 grams of previous made diamonds and have proper super saturation. I’m doing 10lb runs, one or two per day yielding anywhere from 300 to 450g per and putting each one into a miner that I built. The odd part is the ones I put in the oven at 90 even with 5 grams of washed diamonds as seeds I don’t get anything at all. My thought is that with the extra few degrees in the oven vs the room I am causing more solvency so I may need to lower the solvent level. That is what I’m understanding from what I’ve read here.
So much appreciated!
Off this treads topic but I’m not sure how to find this answer on here.
Is there a way to make the black and white text and background reverse? I can only read for 20 or 30 minutes until my eyes are completely messed up. I close my eyes and I can still see the text and contrasting background.
I really want you read at longer intervals.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Bit late to the party, but just had my first go at the crc hot jar diamond tek as well.
Capped when there was almost no bubble activity and a thick honey consistency. Could see a couple mini diamonds already crashing out of solution almost immediately.
Put it in the oven at 120F for about 1h then lowered temp to 85F.
12h later the consistency changed from runny to completely crumble. Reading thru the original thread I might have over agitated the jar initially.
Opened the jar up and broke the crumble cake apart, then cooled down and added slightly more butane and put it back into the oven at 85F.
Curious how this is looking to experienced diamond makers?
sounds like you had it about right, you then heated to 120f and lost solvent.
When you added more, you didn’t redissolve.
(Thousands of seeds…what can you tell me of seeds?)
Looking at the graph, what does a jar full of tiny crystals tell you?
What does agitation do?
What was your goal when you agitated?
Tried to pop solvent bubbles by moving/swirling the jar around a bit. Probably should have left it untouched and should have capped it right away instead.
Guess the solution was super saturated at that point?
Would adding more butane until everything is fully dissolved and then putting the jar back in the oven at 85F fix this current consistency issue?
Was just concerned with leaving too much solvent in the jar, when putting it in the oven, as the OP of the hot jar tek mentioned, he is only capping once he doesn’t see any solvent activity anymore.
That tells me why you agitated.
Doesn’t convey that you understand what you achieved…
Yep. And indicates you have saturation correct. Which is non-trivial considering how many folks don’t…
No, it would likely just pop the lid. You said yourself
Getting all that back into solution in the jar is non-trivial, you will need to evaporate some before you can cap and heat.
In your cls is easier and safer.
The advantage of trying the SAME jar over and over until you get it right, is you can directly compare the results.
Makes it easier to see what just a smidge more/less solvent achieves.
(So long as you don’t go too hot…)
When getting diamonds/sauce back into solution in the CLS do people vacuum out the extract/vessel before adding solvent? I feel like from a safety point this would be advised but also feel like you would lose terps and make the extract more difficult to get dissolved.
Easiest way i have found, and its probably not the correct way but i put the sauce and diamonds into my collection pot of my cls. seal it up, introduce more solvent without vac. The heat from the pot will help remelt the extract faster and yes pressure will go up but its not like your adding pounds of solvent.
