I have clients who swear by microwaving their liters for 15-30 seconds at a time in order to get the initial heating process started and then transferring to hot plate.
Wanted to get your guys feedback on this method.
Obviously is an extreme time saver, but will microwaving it in small increments degrade the product??
I would take a guess that microwaving for that amount of time wouldn’t produce any significant degradation, but you could always take a small amount of distillate and test it before and after microwaving. I don’t know how well cannabinoids would absorb the radiation, but they are polar so technically could be heated with a microwave. Does your client say anything about how quickly it heats the distillate?
The birthing throes of the cart spoon feeding/supplying/potentiating site known as cart farm. Instead of writing the same cart stuff over and over here, im just gonna write it there, and then link it. Any errors you guys will see will be sure to be called out.
Nope! I wrote everything I’m gonna write on that site like a million times here. That site’s free info is finna be my marketing dept. Wouldn’t you rather me spam free info over equipment ads?
Microwave radiation is the fastest possible process. There is no risk of contamination with this method. There are two disadvantages to this method. (1) Short bursts (10-25 seconds) must be utilized to prevent overheating and (2) the equipment will take unavoidable damage over time.
I used to just have a hot plate with a fat pot of boiling water and drop the Mason jars in there. Then in about five minutes or more or so…it’s liquidy.
Dropping a mason jar into boiling water, what could go wrong?
Thermal Shock
Thermal shock is the rapid cooling or heating of an object usually at a defined rate of, eg, +10°C/min or via the immediate transfer from one temperature chamber to another.
i followed a tek on how to dye tshirts purple and I did exactly as the tek described, exactly as described above, despite knowing that mason jars are not borosilicate glass and the bottom split out and ruined my whole run
dropping mason jars in hot, or boiling water is bad advice PERIOD!
Heating the jar in a vacuum oven is what I do, flip it upside down on 130f and let it drain into a silicone 8x8 pan
