Hbr will yield you bromosafrol. Hbr is really nasty stuff and I would strongly recommend that if you don’t really know what you doing, then you shouldn’t fuck with it.

They swap the blanc chloro/bromomethylation and subsequent reaction with hexamine for forming the alcohol with propylene oxide.
Propylene oxide is annoying to get (plus its acutely toxic, carcinogenic and a lachrymator as well) compared to paraformaldehyde, a bromine salt, sulfuric acid and hexamine. While there is the risk of a bis chloro/bromo methyl ether being formed a drying tube with a cotton saturated with hcl will hydrolyze it, if it were to escape.
I also dont understand the need for enantiopure mdma as i was under the impression both isomers impart something to the effect.
This could easily be interpreted as saying the S isomer alone lacks some of the characteristic experience, though it’s clearly doing the heavy lifting compared to the R isomer (and the R isomer seems perhaps more prone to generate the physical side effects)

First of all these were not my friends. I didn’t even know them. Furthermore it is my understanding those guys were extremely violent people and had they actually gone to Phoenix, Sammy would not have had a good day. Personally I think Sammy’s a piece of shit on many levels and these guys from LA were not good people as well.
If you or anyone would like to research this a little deeper, and your friends from outside the country can get their hands on some MDMA… They can easily separate the R and the S with some tartaric acid.
