So there’s like half of the already tiny amount of farmers that grew/survived last season.
There’s going to be a massive shortage of biomass this season unless there’s several massive secret grows out there.
What’s y’all’s thoughts on what that means for the future of the hemp industry? Cause it all starts with the farmer
YOU GOT BIOMASS? ILL BUY IT ALL!
And we are putting deposits down for upcoming harvests as long as it’s 8% minimum content. Reach out to me if you’ve got some!
enjoy processing the warehouses of left over bio from 22-23 lol. Cbd has been a constant race to the bottom, the majority of the incentive in The market is for brokers and resellers of existing stock so this is really expected imo. Why would farmers bother? Just about any other crop is more valuable at this point very few climates actually produce a quality product.
Contract farming for next years harvest I think will be very big and you will have to foot the bill for the farm/deposit for farm if you want a large supply of biomass
There were quite a few big contract farm fails in the beginning, i wouldnt be surprised if most farmers that survived the great fall were weary of such offers. Up front payment for whole crops certainly, but i think single source production is the only reliable method.
I think its also important to realize the size of this industry vs its actual amount of consumers. There may be a shortage of bio, but are we anywhere near a shortage of product? Litre prices still seem quite low
This is a good thing. I mean it may be a setback for some sectors like extractors but in terms of the world as a whole we kind of have enough CBD already. How many products can you sell people honestly. Especially when people come to realize the preposterous price gauging they’ve been subjected to for years. People mix $10 gallons of generic lotion with $10 of CBD and sell it as $60 Oz’s of “artisan medical lotion”.
Game is almost over
Paraguay Colombia etc etc
Are finally ready to grow produce and extract their crops at fractions of the cost since labor and electricity are cheaper and their products thc free
My calculation from seed to issolate with fertilizers solvents consumables etc etc on a medium sized cedarstone extraction rig is 63$ per kg off cbd issolate produced
No shortage, just different personnel growing. If you’re in need of hemp thca biomass, please DM me. I have many sources and can fill large quantities. Truckloads of fresh biomass. Located in the Valley.
Probably going to need prices to go back up. An industry feeding on surplus is not sustainable, though it can last for a few years. Most growers are getting like 1.5-2.5/lb, which is insanely cheap, though I’m not sure how that compares to other agricultural products.
More importantly, with less hype there won’t be such a massive oversupply so prices will likely steadily rise until they stabilize (more cycles may occur, but decreasing in intensity).
The way I look at it is extractors were feeding on investor money for grows and now supply is too low.
I mean everyone was relying for years on what farmers got bilked into growing by unscrupulous companies that got farmers into too-good-to-be-true contracts and then folded up shop when the price tanked leaving the farmers holding the bag after switching from agricultural staples like corn, soy, tobacco and the like. Labs got used to dirt cheap pricing from held over bio so it led to a mexican standoff where you literally had farmers that were willing to burn 100,000+ lbs of bio at a time vs. selling it for dirt cheap. Would YOU want to grow biomass when there’s likely hundreds of farms out there that got foreclosed on because of that debacle?
Once some sort of pricing normalcy and accountability for companies getting farmers into contracts then ghosting is established I can see people wanting to get back in but can you blame them for not?
The. Biggest issue with my African and South American contacts is cost of shipping hurts them so much it almost makes them none competitive unless. Also idk about the legality of import but your talking large time frame delays,
But atleast there’s going to be material available even if it’s not first choice stuff.
When do you think that will be able to hit the market ?
Ya there’s a massive set of ponzy schemes about to go critical without more things to pump and dump to investors. Several of the biggest guys you know are doing this and some of them are some of the bigger guys on this forum not dropping names or nothing just what I’ve heard
Yup I think there will be price plateau and then labs will have to contract all their grows and material and it’ll become more stabilized as a commodity
Id argue this forum has a pretty hefty footprint on the declining economics of this industry. Much more than a few names. Kind of the nature of capitalism. Put out information and profiteers will eventually find it and use it without thought coughdelta8cough
Turns out, churning out diet versions of thc out of hemp whilst thc is becoming legal across the states and europe isnt long lasting business model. Thca hemp ( read: weed) is certainly not the answer. Im actually looking forward to the inevitable crack down on that one.
