I got a pressure relief valve from Lowe’s for my tank.
Is there any reason to not use an air compressor prv?
It pops at 165psi.
Someone mentioned it may not be safe with butane.
Thanks
I use the same ones.
I think that depends on the seat of the prv, but cyclopath is gonna tell you the real reason.
Its a 1/4 npt. Its on the tank already. Just unsure if i should fill it with this prv on it.
Or by seat do you not mean the threads
It’s the seat of the actual piston thing I’m talking about. The little piece that pops?
assuming: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-165-Tank-Safety-Valve/1000404917
what temps are you running?
I would guess that PRV has a soft seat.
The tank is normally room temp. It gets cold on recovery though after the coil but its never on ice
And thats the correct prv i got at lowes
Also if this wrong can you suggest a place i can pick up the right kind local? I dont wanna get raped from hfs if i can help it
the elastomers used for “soft” seats is the issue.
I would me more concerned if you were routinely taking the tank down to -50C.
I prefer PVR’s than can be plumbed to a safe location, but I recall paying more than $100 each for the last set of those I purchased.
the all knowing one pointed me here when I asked for a “plumbable PRV”…
