I have to pre Chill my solvent in a coil to get it to flow properly. So 1st bottom fill with chilled solvent. I know that my 4x48 packed tight takes around 12# of tane to filler up to the top. Then close it off on top and bottom and wait for about an hour (stall). Until the column warms to room temperature and isnt frozen up anymore. Then proceed with the top feed of another 12# solvent and send to dewax column.
We used to get darker colors doing this so we would stop and collect the last 10% or so of tane seperately and it would have a considerably darker tone than the main batch. But now with the crc it takes the dark hues out and we collect every drop.
I always stall in the dewax for 30-60 minutes but this first stall in the material column will let me know if im losing yield or not. Mostly im not but sometimes i do.
Also I use tane mostly but sometimes 70/30 always 4-6# solvent to 1# biomass. Ive gone down to as low as 3# solvent : 1#biomass with a minor reduction (10%) in yield
You only get 1# into a 4x36?? Pack that shit. Ive been using a 4x48 off and on for 10 years now and weve always called it a 5# column and always got 5# in it.
If it was a 3" i could see not getting 5# in it. But even the 3"x48" i can get 2.5-3# pretty easily. Although i dont have the 3" packing rod I could probably go higher with that and i do recommend using the skinniest column possible because i feel it gets better efficiency in terms of yield.
All these numbers i mentioned are cured biomass bucked by hand or machine. If theres seeds the actual weight will be even higher but i try not to take the seeds into account when i figure out the pounds. I know a little white garbage bag holds 4-5# of biomass so if the bud is seeded that little white bag might weigh 6# or more if theres tons of seeds
I don’t think you are real. You gotta be the feds if you’re packing 1 lb into a 4x36. You don’t even need to pack that…that’ll just fall the fuck in the tube lol.
This place makes me laugh more than it makes me think these days.
Ive only run it a couple times, and I guess it was 1.25. I did push hard but it was with a 4 inch disk instead of the dowel. OOPS. I meant 4 x 18, I have 2 of them for a 36 but ive been testing crc so havent run the whole thing yet.
I have a 4x48 non jacketed column as well and I’ve gotten a little over 4# in there with a sock. I think if i pack it with a stick like you guys are talking about I bet I could get 5# in there… definitely needs to be broken up good enough though.
Its weird how theres so many different numbers with those 4x48 tunes
I can pack 7# of bud easily in a 4x48.
I can pack 6# of trim very easily in a 4x48.
If u mean what yield am i getting? Usually 200g from a 5#tube.
If its good i have seen as high as 380-400 from a 6#+ tube, still around 25# of tane. Sometimes i do 30# (usually when im only doing 1 run per day)
Top of a 3x36 column packed with 2.15lbs of GG4. Not ground or crazy packed as you can see. Still room for more. No whacking of mallets, just a slight lean with the Louisville packer. If the most you’re getting in a 4x36 is 2lbs you’re doing something wrong. Or thumping.
