To each their own, I just know—had you spent a bit more and listened to some advice you wouldn’t be searching for deals on a forum
Hold up there a second. Searching for deals is not a sign of being cheap or broke. It’s a sign of being smart with my money. It’s also not a sign of being unwilling to take advice. We’ve met, you’ve seen my place and you know better. Every consultant says spend a little more and stop fighting me on my advice. It should be on a tee-shirt they hand out at every consult. I slapped back at your comments because I thought you were kidding since we sort of know each other.
And I’m just saying, you’ve been trying for quite a while to get going in earnest. The money you’ve lost in time spent not operating is probably more than you would have spent on an initial investment in a booth.
Finding a deal is not a sign of being broke or cheap, but finding a deal at the expense of moving the business plan forward might require some reconsideration.
My honest opinion is that you need to budget more for this specific component of your buildout.
That being said, your building is really nicely built out.
There is something to be said about earning your way there… not sure exactly what it is, other than maybe, stressful?
I’m waiting to work my way up to a booth, so I feel this guys frustration, also trying to find the most reasonable hardware is a good move, provided it’s proven effective.
I also think issues like this precipitate better, more economical solutions.
I need my electronics work bench back, would love to figure out a sensor array that’s more reasonable to start ups.
But the time not operating, I could probably purchase the sensors and switches necessary.
So damned if I do, damned if I dont…
Safety when operating is imperative. I always tell people, it’s just trying to make a planned terrible decision. You can just hedge your bets how terrible the decision is.
Dude, I’ve been so busy filling orders for our dispensaries I haven’t had a moment’s peace. I’m far from struggling to get started. I’ve raised my revenues by an order of magnitude since we met. This month has already exceeded June. My preroll business is out of control and growing. Once we started rolling our stuff from our grow facility it went ballistic. I get to blast on the weekends and in between orders. That’s why I’m holding the cost down. It’s not my primary business model right now. Frankly, I have new staff starting tomorrow rolling our latest harvest exclusively for two of the biggest players in the OK market. What you don’t know about where I’m at today far exceeds the little dab you learned in our short visit together. Don’t read too much into it.
Fair enough, just my opinion.
I’m happy to hear you guys are doing so well
What I keep running into is the product liability wall. Everyone acts scared to talk. I’m beginning to understand it’s also a tactic to guard intellectual property, not a reason. I’m sure glad that wasn’t true when CLS started or a million other things I’ve learned here. Nobody was afraid when they had that pvc pipe and butane can in hand. Let the youtube record show. Finding the controls or making them can’t be that hard. They are on a shelf and used by another industry, I have no doubt. It’s finding them that is valuable to consultants and vendors. I understand that. I also appreciate that any advice or guidance can be seen as a legal liability or product liability issue. All of this adds up to a frustrating way to run a railroad.
To be fair we didn’t know what tf we were all doing when that happened. When I learned we were being idiots I went to get a chemical engineering degree.
The IP you speak of is worth protecting for sure! It’s a valuable asset—albeit completely overpriced at this point.
I totally understand why extractors get weird from it.
Jeez, if I had a nickel for everyone trying to get on my nuts about “how you do that?” I wouldnt need to work…
It takes a lot of resources and trial and error to dial processes in, if my solution Costs 100k worth of school, supplies, materials, you can bet there is a certain point of “f*** off” associated with it.
Does that make that demeanor correct? Nope…
But it is understandable.
Liability, and the fact that, I dunno, it ain’t a poor man’s sport, makes it super weird socially.
I don’t agree with it, but I also don’t agree with tell the village people.
I’ve started gauging peoples understandings, and just work from there, it ensures I’m modest when I’m the fool, and makes me stand up for myself when fooled.
My point about the pvc was about how grateful I am for the free flow of information here. I would be lost without it. That’s why I was frustrated to hit a wall here, too. Buy a clue, buy a booth, buy both. Buy a place at the lake, same money. I think I’ll roll a few more and think on it for a while longer.
One day when I have time I may look into what it’d take to make a controller. That could be handy dandy.
Speaking as someone who designs and builds booths and gets asked “how do you do that” all the time…
The reason we’re so gunshy about “what-ifs” is because we know that we are the first one who gets called if a system doesn’t pass an inspection or certification. We also don’t have the luxury of choosing who is doing the inspecting and to what degree they’re going to scrutinize the system. The solution to this is to design to the strictest standards (expensive) and not touch projects where we’re asked to cut corners, even if it’s a legitimate reason.
As an aside, I’m currently working on a control solution that uses an off-the-shelf, UL listed assembly that is widely used in other industries for less than $1000. I’m waiting for it to actually pass inspection first before I go blabbing too much about it but if it all works out it’ll reduce the controls cost significantly.
We use the HAL 180U and love it – so does the fire marshall.
