Kind of back....want to setup a grow now

I hope this is the right forum, Many of you may have seen or followed my videos on distillations, and seen how that ended up for me.

Well, I’m at a point where I want to start growing, but I have some serious limitations, mainly electrical capacity.
I live in an apartment with a grand total of I think 60A, and also have only a limited space in my living room where I can grow…problem is I can’t really run a grow off of the living room electrical as I run an AC in the summer and it consumes 9.3A.
My TV and entertainment stand consume 2A when most things are on (TV, Receiver, maybe PS4 or such)

So, I’m not sure how to handle this, but I know I’d have to go with LEDs since they consume the lowest amount of power, and I think are generally under 2A.

I only want to grow maybe 4 or 6 plants, I have room for a large tub and ideally I want to go aeroponic, since I actually have mostly everything needed to do it, including the biocontrols true aero spray nozzles.

So what kind of space would be needed for let’s say 4 plants?

I can’t do soil, it’s messy af and I don’t need that in my living room. I’d rather do at least some kind of small hydro setup if I could.

So I guess I’m looking for advice on what kind of setup to go with, even though I’m going to TRY aeroponic.
I don’t think the pump consumes much electricity, and LED lighting would also keep it low.

What other electrical devices would I be looking at? I’d need a fan obviously but I’m planning on some kind of grow tent or cabinet.

How did that end up for you?

How did the distillations end up?
Go check out The Final Update video…
Did not end well really. Had to sell my equipment, sell the house I was in…but that was insanely expensive.

Problem was with my partner who didn’t want to continue even though I had a solid plan and much cheaper location to work from.

The other main problem as I see it was that I was only ever supposed to make the oil that was it. period.

But my partner was always “soooooo busy” with his own shit that he just “didn’t have time” to find buyers or shit, so it really all came down to me and I ended up having to do everything.
Then he got pissed that I had to use what meager earnings I was getting to pay my own fucking bills and survive instead of putting anything back into paying for the operation.

but like, this guy basically expected me to ignore my bills and shit and it got to a point where I could barely pay rent with what little I was making.

Even tried edibles, but once again got super fucked because fucking everyone told me “oh yeah, this is amazing, this shit will sell so fast, oh yeah I’ll tell everyone and help you get it out there” …and then nothing. every fucking person that said they would help fucked off and just blew smoke up my ass so I couldn’t even move edibles that were in such high demand. Hell I was making bits and bites and shit and everyone who tried them LOOOOOOVVVVVEEED them…but not enough apparently.

So fuck everyone basically.

I just want to grow some of my own at home because since all that ended up I’ve been smoking weed from a 20lb bag of moldy shit…a bag that’s almost empty and is probably 5+ years old.

I’m down to the very last bit of distillate I had and it tastes like shit and is mixed with MCT oil because it was for caps.

I need to get some plants growing now, and stop smoking this moldy shit because we just cannot afford to buy pot, and the amount we smoke is…well, it’s a lot. Maybe 1/4oz+ per day.

Without knowing your budget; Flood and drain in a ~square meter tent, is definitely preferable to aero imho. Fewer points of failure. I keep mothers in soil for the same reason, so worst-case scenario there’s no risk of losing em.

And if you’re looking to avoid the electrical use for ac/heating, it’s easier to turn down your lights when temps are out of range. Not just when it’s too warm, but too cool and it’s cheaper per gram to turn down the lights than turn up the heat. Could get a Bluetooth controller to make that even easier.

we don’t pay for electricity, and have no control over our heat since it’s hot water baseboard heating controlled by the building, but how does turning down the light help if the temps are too cool?

I have a 650CFM duct fan mounted to my window to keep air moving through our place and to vent our AC, so I might be able to utilize that somehow even though the tent isn’t exactly near the window, but regardless, I don’t think I’d need a giant fan for a 4 plant grow tent…would I?

Budget? well, like I said, I have much of what I need, so I could probably work with the cost of some additional stuff.

I have no problem keeping a mother in soil, we could literally just have that growing in our living room…why not our neighbor does lmao. but when it comes to growing and harvesting soil is far too messy to have in our living room.

got any links for what would be needed for the setup you mention and a grow tent?
I haven’t really looked into this for a long long time, but now growing is a better option.

4-6 plants
4x4x6.5’ tent
1x315 cmh in a big air cooled hood (big kahuna, raptor) 2.89a
1x 6" ho fan (use for scrubber and hood) .75a
Carbon scrubber

You’ll pull +1lb, or should easily pull.

What state are you in?

If your close enough to me…I’ll see to it that you are no longer smoking moldy old weed.

I’m going with LED lighting, it’s the only thing that will work with my electrical restrictions. only about 2A for a 2000W light I think.
The biggest problem to my electrical woes are my air conditioner. We absolutely need to run 3 ACs in the summer or it gets insanely hot and humid on the 3rd floor.

The one for our living room basically maxes out the living rooms capacity when it’s running.
I MIGHT be able to find another plug on a different circuit for it. might be able to share with my fridge since I think the fridge is low draw too.

a pound sounds pretty decent though, not sure if that would last us until the next harvest…and yes I’m serious, we smoke a lot…easily can smoke 1/4oz+ per day.

I was considering the MARS HYDRO Reflector TSW 2000 LED Grow Light but seems quite a bit more expensive than I want to pay for a light.
Especially when I have a bunch of 3W LEDs I can stick into a MakersLED heatsink and make my own lights…which is a route I might take.

You may want to rethink that statement. 80% of the led info is 100% false and false advertising. I can guarantee, yes guarantee your not getting a 2000w equivalent led that only pulls 2 amps. It’s not going to happen. And by the change you do find one, it’s a low tier garbage led like 80% of the leds sold are just plan garbage.

Edit

LMFAO at Mars garbage!!!

I don’t know if it’s 2000W equivalent… just has 2000 in the name lol I didn’t look into it that much yet, someone just pointed out that it fit perfectly in a grow tent I was looking at.

Amazon says it pulls 300W…that’s approx 2.5A

That’s the lingo most led companies suck in growers with fake numbers and promises.

And I bet it’s a blurple light.

And fak amazon!!!

Your going to all the wrong places to buy. Check out growershouse.com

Again 1x315cmh is 2.89 anps and you will pull quality weight vs a faked led.

hey man, I never said I was buying there, just looking at stuff.

I’m just into the research right now, and I’m well versed in electricity as I have a diploma is electromechanical engineering tech…so they aren’t fooling me with their bullshit marketing terms.

I just checked through it, they don’t claim ANYWHERE that its 2000W equivalent, it’s literally just a model number, the TSW2000.
That was my own dumb ass that just went ahead and assumed that.

What’s blurple? is that blue and purple? because it’s a reddish type color of full spectrum.

Like I said, I have a ton of 3W LEDs, full spectrum and other spectrum’s as well. Was going to use them for an aquarium…never did.

I might just grab some of these and build the lights myself.

you know what… I thought the cmh was referring to cubic meters/hour …

did not realize that was an actual light lol

What about flowering though? There’s a few things I want to try, one of them being putting a plants directly into flowering, but that aside, isn’t an HPS/Red spectrum better for flowering?

I’ll probably be hitting you up for a personal grow build out consult here in a month or so, of course I’d make it worth your time
