Kind of back....want to setup a grow now

I went from 5yrs of mh/hps grows to 5yrs of cmh grows. I use less kw/power, BUT I pull the same weight. So my cost per oz went down, and profits in my pockets up.

Blurple is what the led emits. It’s a mix of blue and purple. 10yr old tech led companies sold newbs on to sell their crap-ass lights.

Don’t get blurples, and in the end, it’s not even worth it to diy anymore imo.

If you go led, get some pre-made qb knockoffs from amazon.

hmmmm… I thought LEDs were pretty good, they seem to do a decent job of growing plants.

I was looking at my electrical, and found that my mini fridge and microwave are on the same circuit as my living room, so that explains why I’ve had such a hard time with the AC. We’re getting rid of that mini fridge so that will free some stuff up and I’m looking at whether or not I can move the AC to my main fridge circuit, which is also running our washing machine. Not sure if AC, fridge and washing machine can all run together…probably not.

Next thing I’m going to do is find out how much current each device is pulling so I can figure out some way to move it around.

another option, though definitely not ideal is to use my dryer plug. I actually have a sub panel I built for this purpose years ago…the problem however is that to have our dryer, I’ve had to tap it off the oven plug. so we can’t use the dryer and oven at the same time. This hasn’t really been much of a problem tbh, except one or two cases when our daughter decided to do laundry when we were cooking.
I’m not certain if we could run the AC and dryer/oven at the same time, and trust me, we need that friggin AC man.

So I’m going to work at figuring this stuff out so I can have max available to the grow.
Once the mini fridge is gone there will be maybe 3 or 4A tops being used by the living room as a whole…except when the microwave is on.

fucking apartments man…

Ahhh, apartment… hope the landlord never finds out. Its immediate eviction. If your above someone, NEVRR do hydro. If you have a leak, water leaks into neighbor below = very bad trouble and lawsuits.

You could do a bucket dwc and not worry too much about it.

How much space do you have for everything?

uhhhh…our landlord has a bunch of plants out on his balcony in the summer, and is growing some now.

even if he wasn’t, it’s not an eviction. There are at least 4 other people growing as well.

we are above someone, where the water would leak it wouldn’t get to them. There’s already been problems with this due to clogged drains or something. I don’t think I’d be using that much water anyway. it would pretty much soak into our carpets.

28"x48" floor space. not much.

Yeah, but its something.

I’d buy a 2x4x5 tent and a 240w led panel kit to start.

I dunno if I’m gonna be able to convince you to go soil. But I would start there. You can get 8 1 gallon air pots and grow about a # each harvest if you got things dialed in.

Do your transplanting on a tarp and then you control the mess, and tbh, it’s not that bad. A bag of happy frog will do two rounds this way.

Edit: I can’t offer suggestions for hyrdo growing, but for your space I’m well versed in everything else.

I really don’t want to do soil, I wouldn’t say I’m against it, and it isn’t like we’re living in a high luxury unit or something, we live in the ghetto and we only have the space now because we just rehomed our last pet rat and got rid of the massive cage that was taking up that space.

as for height I think we have about 9-10’ to work with.

I really do want to try an aero grow somehow. I might play around with it simply because I have the stuff, nozzles, pump, etc so it wouldn’t be costly for me to setup at this point.
however I do also like the idea of DWC, or buckets, fog(that’s aero lol), flood and drain etc. so I’m not set on aero, I’ve just always wanted to try it and been collecting shit for years.

You could double decker that shit and do two grows if you really wanted to haha.

And I get ya, if you’re gonna go hydro, more power to you man!

Just offering what advice I have.

you glorious son of a bitch you…double decker eh??
Not sure I’d really have enough height though, the container the plants are in obviously take up height, so there would be basically 5’ for each chamber, minus the container height.

I’d rather grow a ten foot tree lmao…

I’ve dealt with soil before…and man… it’s just such a pain and messy.

Dwc is the way to go. No pumps. Just a air pump so so chance of flooding. I grew this stuff led from Mars and a current culture dwc

Who does pay for it? Whomever it is will most likely notice the new consumption of power. Be careful

buddy…we run 3 air conditioners in the summer. it’s a low rent apartment building. everyone else here is growing. There is literally no concern whatsoever of growing pot here.

It’s legal for us to have up to 4 plants for personal consumption.

damn man, those are nice roots and nice buds.
DWC would definitely be easy. probably a good starting point too.

I could actually even do like a SWC/fog hybrid type system because I have a massive ultrasonic fogger, so I could have solution in the bottom of a tub, and use the fogger to keeps the roots moist.

Ok. Just saying from a point of operational security. Glad you don’t need to worry about that.

Dwc is the way, just no room for error and the upfront financial hurdle can be a little bit more of a burden then some are ready for. If you got the cash to do dwc correctly dooooo it!

well, I don’t necessarily have the cash, why would it be so expensive though?

And yeah, there is nothing to worry about here in terms of growing. even our landlords are growing their own lol.

most of the people here have it either on the balcony or just in the living room right by the window that everyone can see lmfao

Chiller, ph doser and build out of the hydroponic system.

You’re looking at $1200 for chiller and doser right off the bat. It’s not that it’s crazy expensive, it just obviously going to cost more than dirt
