It Finally Happened

I think D8 being as widely consumed as it has been in the last two years due to it being legally sold at gas stations indicates to me it was not the d8. Millions of people have tried it in two years (maybe even at a faster rate than d9 during prohibition.) The sample size is large enough to conclude two things:

A. Delta 8 was not the cause

Or

B. One out of millions has died using Delta 8, still making it one of the safest drugs to ingest vs other available vices or medications (although we cannot overlook this trajedy.)

I think of it like this:
i have two dominos set up, and an egg set up after.
i push the first domino. it falls, hits the second domino, which also falls, and hits the egg, which cracked.

do i consider myself responsible for the egg cracking, or am i gonna blame that 2nd domino?

i don’t think the latter holds up, like that’s a desperate stretch, and seems like neither does the OP. i respect their taking responsibility a lot and wish them the best

Stop, you’re being silly. You need to understand multiplying probabilities here does not help your case. This is not how you do statistics and it’s not how you do risk analysis.

We have a failure case here that someone had a heart attack after (proximate cause) D8. That’s already something that seems unlikely, like, 1/100,000. But you’re now trying to introduce an auxilliary cause: MAYBE he was vaccinated. OK, well let’s say that that can cause a heart attack. How likely is it? That paper reports 69 case studies – out of like 69 million shots. So you’re taking something really unlikely and then introducing this auxiliary argument that maybe he also fell in the 1/1,000,000 group of side effects for some other thing that we haven’t even verified. This kind of argument does not make your case more plausible – it makes it less plausible.

It would be like someone getting hit by a car and then me saying he probably died because he had osteoporosis and it made his bones weak. But osteoporosis is very rare, so the odds that he had osteoporosis are lower than the odds he he didn’t. Unless there’s PRIMARY EVIDENCE he had some kind of medical condition, introducing that hypothesis is compounding one unlikely thing with another unlikely thing – the product is lower than either individual odds!

Maybe it was just the COVID vaccine? I tease, but really, myocarditis/pericarditis are common symptoms of COVID mRNA vaccines. Lots of young folk have had heart issues from them.

Again you are not building tolerance to one substance, you are becoming more tolerant to all substances that influence that one receptor system (the endocannabinoid system in this case). It is not like thc or 11hydroxythc have separate receptors, they both influence the same endocannabinoid system (yes possibly different potency/binding affinities for each) but if your endocannabinoid system has been hammered by thc for years on end, it has developed a tolerance to all cannabinoids. This is logical if you understand neurobiology, and also by experience if you just smoke a shit ton of tree for years and try a 5mg edible… You won’t feel shit.

Yall saying you feel a 5mg edible have not been smoking enough for long enough to cause this change in your endocannabinoid system. You are not a special snowflake, you are a weed newbie. That’s fine and all, but try and tell an old head that smokes +1g of nug per day that he has no tolerance to edibles… And he’s gonna laugh in your face and ignore all your ā€œknowledgeā€ from then on. Yall sound dumb AF to let you know.

You’re the only one who sounds like a n00b, girlfriend. I doubt you even know any ā€œold headsā€. You have a very poor grasp of what you are, so eagerly confident about, that you are projecting your own single experience. And completely blind to the highly experienced people who are repeatedly telling you, you’re incorrect.

Edibles send people to the hospital all the time due to panic attacks. Not the first time I’ve heard of someone going to the hospital from edibles and having to stay for a few days due to an underlying heart disease.

I’ve been smoking flower for the better part of 15 years. Your generalization doesn’t hold up

I had this experience back in the the day. I can handle 3g/d of RSO.

1-1.5g doses no problem anymore…

I have been smoking for years and each time I change my injection types I can typically feel it.

For ex: if I dab all day, and then smoke some flower later, that flower can get me higher than the dabs or the RSO.

I read through a lot of your responses, I will add an edit after I read more of the post but I do want to adress your concerns. I probably spelled adress wrong, I don’t care haha.

I have been making my own beer since HS. So I’m not new to the drink game. Before I graduated I planned on making a legal alcoholic/thc drink before realizing that a drink like that is highly illegal. If you can’t tell, I always have wanted to do things legally, not into cutting corners, and do not want to go jail… I found out about D8, and saw it as a huge business plan. I started off with disty selling edibles, they were a huge hit. I asked the people buying at the time if they would be interested in a drink, they said yes of course. So I started doing research, found out about this site yada yada…

You can read A Layman’s Diary and see my process of how I went from complete noob to business owner, it was pretty well documented imo. I realized I couldn’t turn disty to nano myself. So yes, I did outsource the nano. But that is it. I forumlated the lemonade. Ran multiple test in small groups to get everything right. Then released my drink to the market. I sold it mostly to distrubtors by the case, to my hometown and where I live currently. It was a huge hit, but once I started getting bigger they started inquiring about insurance and I couldn’t provide it so a couple of the bigger shops stopped ordering, until I was able to get insurance… We see how that worked out. I’m sure a couple places still have it on the shelves but I haven’t told any of them WHY I can’t sell them anymore because it would just open me up to more bs lawsuits.

But to answer your question, no I wasn’t just relabeling an already made drink.

I can send you a picture of the bottle in PMs, had to remove everything from the interwebz ofc, but I can show you the LLc and the bottle just to prove I am actually the owner and creator of the drink

EDIT: And to hit on HOW exactly i produced so much, I got a loan from my mom (yeah yeah I know) and bought around 1,000 bottles and labels, and then started using that money to increase. I used a counter pressure (with a pretty low amount of co2 to fill the bottles quickly). In addition, I have a kegerator and stored my bottles in there at around 10 psi so that it wasnt fizzy but it helps with the space in the keg and keeps the drink fresh longer. Also it allowed the THC to be forced into suspension because it had no where else to go. I DID NOT bottle , or create the drink in my home though. I rented out a kitchen to create it so that if I did get raided or something wild I had proof that it was at least being created in a legal area. I would mix about 2,000 mL of syrup (my lemonade concentrate and the nano) and then add it to the kegs which allowed me to mix it in minutes. This process also allowed me to package 100s of bottles in a night.

But then you may be thinking… why would this kid still sell to people personally if he had so much going on. The answer is… clout. LOL. I tried my best not to attatch my name to the drink but the more people that knew about it, the more people wanted to try it and buy it directly from me. So i obliged, not much more to it. I don’t want to be a business owner though. I’m a pre-med in college, this was just supposed to be a cool med school interview topic, and a way to pay for school and a fun lifestyle.

It looks like it’s entirely possible

ā€œThe literature suggests that cannabis use plays a role in inducing MI, particularly in young, otherwise healthy adults who present shortly after useā€

Bartenders yes…when serving alcohol in person…but does Budweiser get sued when someone buys a couple cases of beer from the super market then goes to the hosiptal with complaints of chest pain after binge drinking?
