If you send a t-free terpene fraction sample (2ml) we can run it and recreate it and send you our best shot. Again, assuming you are going to add the CDT and BDT together to make the small-batch CDT go further in volume, this is a great idea. Everything on the GC we can get into the bottle but it won’t be an exact match on it’s own for the reasons I explained before. If you have a C of A on your terpene I can pick something off the shelf that most closely matches it and you can at least get a sample of the direction we are coming from and go from there. We use over 40 isolates in our blends when most companies don’t even use a dozen, so either way I know you will be pleased with what we come up with.
Just FYI, to anyone else interested:
An off-shelf or custom terpene project with us would have a 5lb min order unless it’s something we can blend from the shelf with ingredients we already have. This happens sometimes. Or we can do custom, semi-custom, and proprietary blends depending on your need. A $700 deposit for materials and labor will get your project started and 1-2 weeks to start getting our samples in your hands to try out. The $700 gets applied to your first 5lb MOQ order.
I’m sorry but it’s just making all botanical terp companies look bad with claims like this.
Your blends of terpene isolates with a splash of plant essential oils smell fine and all but let’s try and be a little realistic here. In order to replicate everything in cannabis terpenes you would need to use a long list of technical grade reagents that are not safe for human consumption. It would cost no less than $10,000 per ML. The materials just do not exist outside of being sold by the milligram for research. I could show you every single aroma you’d recognize for cannabis but it would be very dangerous to sell this as a consumable product.
Botanical-only blends are a thing of the past unless the goal is to just create a basic flavor with no real resemblance to cannabis. I’ve invested more in hemp and cannabis terpene testing out of my own pocket than perhaps any individual on this forum with the exception of Dr. Jack and a couple others who are keeping quiet about their developments.
If we want terpenes to be perfect representations of flower we need to A) leave them as high cannabinoid extracts and minimize refinement altogether or B) reconstitute hemp essential oils from multiple cultivars and extraction methods. It cannot be done with just one lab and requires an incredible amount of refinement/chromatography to isolate those materials that do not otherwise exist in a consumable form. Let this be an open offer to anyone working on hemp terpene processing, CO2 assisted chromatography, and smokable hemp cultivation to get working together next season.
I have tons companies both selling and using inhouse CDT they have made with a tailored system from summit. Most people don’t know the tools for pure and high quality CDT products is right under Thier nose. Single source products are part of our future, if you don’t already understand the process or aren’t using it you’ll have to get your head wrapped around it. CDT machines for the bho and CO2 guys has been around for a while. The thing to realize the people already doing this just won’t admit to it or what machines they use. They ghost the subject online bc they don’t want Thier competition to catch up and do what they are doing.
If you want to make CDT with identical profiles you are aiming to capture then hit me up. I have it all.
Unfortunately we can only take samples from a customer who says they are ‘thc free terpenes’ or ‘hemp derived’. We don’t test for cannabinoid content so we just have to take your word for it. So if you do send samples, just be sure to only send the ones labelled ‘thc free’ or ‘hemp derived’. If you have a C of A of your own I can still get it made without your sample or using our GCs, either way works.
I just posted this elsewhere but it goes over the polarity of various extraction solvents in relation the the large amount of flavor and aroma compounds. Note that the butane and etoh in this chart are at room temp so running them cold shrinks the target compounds that can be extracted even further.
this is why HTE/CO2/LN2/Steam terps smell nice but not exactly like the strain as these methods mostly just pick up some terps and leave all these other compounds behind
Hmmm makes me wonder, I have some BHO HTE from Fresh froze. Anyone in northern Cali (Oakland) looking to test a sample of my terps? I feel like the terps I process taste just like the flower they come from. Would be interesting to see what others are seeing in their tests.
Resorcinol and wtf n-mers.
I’m trying to pay attention…
The Loxley system seems to have great points…if you want neutral mixtures.
If steam is one of there “motive” gases…expresso is the sleeping giant.
