There’s nothing even remotely comparable afaik. Even dry scroll pumps have at least 5x higher ultimate vacuum.
Would a dry scroll pull down to between 0.1 - 0.5 torr
Edwards XDS will but good luck finding that within your budget
Found an nXDS6i for £1500 that’s been serviced with new tip seals and warranty etc so might just get that if it does the job
go for it! btw i just checked, the Vacuu Pure 10C is “only” 10K USD. for what it offers, that’s a killer deal.
How about this:

$3k for a pump that runs 300+CFM and down to 0.6 mtorr sounds like the ticket to me
Nice one mate sick of rotary vanes and having to change oil etc, will be hooking it straight up to my kugelrohr and distilling this dmt crude I’ve got lay about
Aquatec cdp 8800 can pump straight methanol and I have pumped alot of ethanol tincture with them without issues.
Looking to replace my HF vac pump on my 5L rotovap for an oilless model. Currently looking at the Vacuubrand MD 4C NT. I believe it will be overkill for such a small rotovap, but I’d rather buy larger and grow into it with other equipment than have to buy larger in the future. Does this seem like a good play or should I be looking at other models? I’m hoping to score a used ebay deal instead of buying new.
100% overkill in terms of what you need for the Rotovap that you currently have. This size would be great if you’re looking to upgrade to a 20L or 50L.
For the 5L roto, you don’t need much. Something with less CFM and less ultimate vac. I personally think Vacuubrand, ULVAC and Welch are a bit expensive for their smaller pumps.
Yeah, I was reading that the 4C would be great for 20L+ setups, but I plan on building a FFE in the coming months, and I figured it would be useful there as well. If I could score a 4C for 1k off ebay and pair it with my digital vac controller, would I run into any issues? I appreciate the links to the alternate pump options. I would like to buy a pump that I can use in larger setups in the future as my space is limited and I would rather not have more vac pumps lying around than I need. Thoughts?
I think you’ll probably be fine. A bunch of stuff I’ve read says to avoid oversizing your pump, but paired with a controller you should be good. If the pumping speed was significantly larger, I think you’d have some issues. The only thing I can think of is that your vapors aren’t going to condense as efficiently if the flowrate is too high for the given vacuum pressure that you’re at.

Okay, I really appreciate the insight as well as the reference material!
