Hey team first post here i am excited to learn everything i can about crystallization.
But for now i would like to get some advice or be directed to where i can find more solid info on what would be the best plan of action for creating diamonds.
i have been open blasting for a few years now (please don’t judge haha my username says it all) and making carts and i seem to be the only person in my country who is doing this at a semi large scale. i would like to start providing thca diamonds & sauce as an option.
i have started my first attempt of jar-tek with using 28g of "Jenny Kush’ dry, sadly i wasn’t able to get ahold of fresh or freeze dried bud this time.
i have open blasted into my mason jar repeated the process x4 blasts. pre frozen bud and glass tube)
i burped the jar most of the night until i reached a semi-syrup consistency (a tad more liquidly).
-capped the jar (wide lid 500ml) left it for just under a week
crystalizing well i think small crystals all over
-placed jar on a seedling heat pad (14watt)
at this stage the material has turned full syrupy
crystals growing at a very slow rate
-2 days later the syrup has turned very thick and i no longer see butane bubbles and i see no growth
i de-cap jar and blast only butane inside i recap and notice a small leak possibly because the mix is too solvent rich. an hour later the mix becomes liquidly syrup again.
and now i am researching and making this post here.
all i really need is someone to point out anything they think i should change. using my current setup. i do not want to invest into anything serious or blast half or full pounds until i have a working method i am happy with.

Best piece of advice i can offer you is to get your biomass tested for potency. Since it is dried, some of it has certainly decarboxylated with drying/storage. If there is too much THC in the biomass then it will be very hard to crystallize. I like to see a ratio of >15:1 THCA: THC. Fresh frozen is best, freshly dried/cured works well too. You also need a fine filter to strain out any kief, which partially inhibits crystallization.
When you’ve done this, on your next attempt, when you first see the small crystals in the mason jar, cap tightly and don’t let very much solvent evaporate. After a week, crack the lids and very slowly let the solvent evaporate.
basically what others have already stated… material must be fresh enough to have enough thca for crystallization to occur along with a clean enough extract to not impede on crystal growth. ie dewaxed, properly filtered extract. also, I’ve not really seen much benefit from heating pads and avoid cracking the jars and let the process do its thing for at least 3-5 days and watch for a halt in crystal development before opening. fresh material ran as cold and as cleanly as possible will help tremendously. good luck and please be safe with your crackhouse methods

to Shrimp- my butane mix is 220g CAN 95% butane/5% butane i have researched and i should be running 70b/30p which was not available in my country up until i have searched again and found the correct premix (thank god).
i am not purging in the vac oven i am blasting directly into the mason jar and placing the jar into a warm water bath until i reach desired consistency.
to polyc- okay i have tried to get testing done in my country for bho extracts and all the organizations reserve testing for “harder drugs” they say. im assuming i would be okay to just use a good sticky batch of fresh bud?. when you refer to my next attempt do you mean i should blast into my jar and not evaporate my solvent to a syrupy consistency and also do not cap until i see small crystals? then after a week i would crack the lid to burp the jar or crack the lid and fully evaporate the solvent?
to cyclopath- i am currently looking into cheap CLS’s to try start with ill do some research over the weekend on how to do it the right way.
to hashtasticvoyage- i am spending the weekend to do even more research on CLS’s and filtering of my extracts. i agree with you on the heating mat since i was growing crystals before even using it. dam Youtube video of hippie dudes from CA are not enough and far from accurate. i think it is time to leave my crackhouse methods and adopt some CRACKHOME methods and do shit properly i see everyone moves on from their glass tubes why not me.

If you’re interested in leveling up to a small closed loop, I’ll help you figure out what you need or find you someone to talk to about it. Please seriously consider NOT open blasting.
i would suggest reading up on the centrifuge thread. run your extract like normal, cover with plastic wrap for a couple days while it crashes out and spin it up, dissolve your thca sugar in pentane and re-x.
you will need to get your hands on some Pentane to re-X into diamonds but im sure you can find some.
If there are any good closed loop systems anyone can vouch for that would process 1/4Lb-1/2Lb or even less at a time it would be much appreciated. Any links? Or guides to build?

hey! I’m wondering if you can get the biomass tested, not the extract. I always make sure it’s not too decarboxylated before I extract. If it’s too far gone, it’s not worth your time if your end goal is diamonds.
I mean next time you extract, blast into your jar, evaporate until it’s a thin syrup, then cap tight until you see small, but well defined, crystals. Then crack the jar and let the solvent evaporate slowly

i have an older small travel cls that does like 2 ounces at a time. I’m not sure how much it would be to ship, but you can have it if you cover the shipping.
In theory if I can get the bud on day of harvest and freeze it right away it would have very little time to convert the thca. It’s just there is no testing for cannabis. I might try see if I can tell them I think a batch of bud is laced and see what they can do. They only use a spectrometer would that give me the info I need?
After I see the small crystals form I would crack the lid and evap then re cap to continue crystallisation?
