This time I am taking it this far, because I told sidco I wanted to do something 2 weeks ago. He approved it, and then yesterday changed his mind. I started with a friendly vote, but the longer this rides the angrier I’ll get. I want full rights now

Not saying I’m not down for changes but being the loudest one in the room doesn’t mean you should be immediately compensated.

I ask that regulars be allowed to call other @trust_level_3 users and the ability to edit their OWN older posts. It doesn’t make sense that edits aren’t allowed later on when anyone can see the edit history.

Okay that’s something we can work on! I agree with you I think trust level 3 and above should be able to tag trust level 3 and trust level 4s.

I personally am torn on the infinite edits b.c. of the reason I stated before. It would suck if a highly contributing member decided they didn’t want thier posts to exist anymore. But I also agree with u on harm reduction etc. I’m sure I said some dumb as fuck things a year or two ago that could be corrected with and edit.

Edit: I have no idea how searching would be affected if some one did decide to just “wipe” thier posts. Seeing edit history is nice but not if u don’t know what used to be there.

See the issue is when I asked in advance, got permission, and it was revoked. Where I come from it’s called sizing, and when you size someone, you gain an instant enemy. Now I want the power to edit it myself. If people want free info, they can click the pencil. Thats my point.

That’s the one issue I see with forever edits. Is the off chance some one tries to use it in that fashion.

Now let’s talk about this practically. How many edits would you like to have made if givin the ability to do so? If the answer is one or two than I would say it’s either not worth it orrrr it could maybe be an “approval” based system. Where as the frequency of old edits is so low that it could be Fielded to a mod for approval

Trying to work with you on solutions here we just both need to be able to say why it’s good and why it’s bad

The “big deal” is not being able to search for it imo AFAIK if you make an edit the only searchable text will be the newest edit

Couple this with an anonymous profile and you have a whole lotta hidden stuff

If we shut down the forum tomorrow, plenty of people’s businesses would be dramatically impacted. Businesses that we allow to operate here for free, that we encourage use this platform, for free. Many of them, far better consultants than I. I’d wager that without the forum enabling the easy access to those consultants my own personal consulting requests would start to pick up, because I am pretty easy to find off the forum. That’s pretty much the whole reason this place even became relevant in the first place. That’s literally why we named it the same as my IG handle.

How about giving edits a 72 hour timeline, and then ask a mod to fix any edit past 72 hours? I totally get what you are saying, but I also get the other side of the coin. Really the only fix is to extend the edit timeline by another day or two, and then involve a mod or admin for editing past that point
