What about just self flagging for “something else” and then using the available text box to explain to the mods why they need an edit

Yeah this seems logical. I would also be pressed its presented fairly and not something like “more rights vs no rights”
I have a lab that I run. If you want to initiate a vote because I don’t have the personal time to split threads all day, go for it. I’m the only one who isn’t as active as everyone else, aside from @Soxhlet, who can be just as busy as I am if not more.

This or a DM is what we ask users to do now. It mostly works except when I say no, because the reason to edit is to take back useful info, or something they said they regret.
What are legit reasons to delete something?

I was just throwing an idea out there, not pointing fingers or anything. I’m fine with who we have, and quite alright with requesting that something gets fixed in whatever time it takes to fix it. I know everybody has life, and that this is totally voluntary, so please don’t think that I’m pointing fingers or trying to call anyone out.

max the edits out to maybe one or two per day? this way you dont have a user mass deleting posts?
Absolutely. This is unironically exactly what I asked for. we even worked out the correct naming up thread a bit. “Save the children vs I hate kids” when voting on whether to expand the playground, id rather the votes have something like “expand the playground vs keep it the same”

That would be reasonable if it was possible to limit long term edits vs short term ones. I wouldn’t want us to limit the immediate grammar/spelling “freebee” edits
A user may want to edit a highly trafficked post to update a free SOP they posted. instead of replying within a thread with updated links/data that would get lost in a sea of hundreds of posts.

They delete 1 or 2 posts a day for weeks and no one has noticed.
As for flags, mods, and promotions I think we should stick to this voting hurdle first and editing business. We already see with TL4 there are cases of believing rules dont apply just because they have the power. I think only a very small set of TL4 can also handle being a mod. @Soxhlet has been a great mod and we still have issues here and there about when and where to handle flags.

The wording shouldnt have you in defense mode… I think its pretty clear from the poll what is being asked for.
can you show us an example when these delete posts took away from the conversation? or function of the site?
