Freeze Dried Buds (Pros vs Cons)

You should see how much “intelligence” the used freeze dryer we looked at rehabbing before pursuing a custom build had!!

Unfortunately it had been ripped from it’s former home without any thought to preserving function, and there was no way in hell we were getting it back online, even lobotomized…

It was also only a fraction of the size (maybe 2m3)

Is it treu that there is no condensor to condens the water vapor ?

Yes exactly these pumps can pump very high humidity vapors defenatly when non explosive
So I was wondering if a cold trap condensor was still implemented
Would think no need wich is a expensive part of oil driven pumps

It has these giant freeze plates on each side. But no cold trap inline with the vacuum pump.

What’s the consensus of using carbon cloth in the racks

Or infra red panels like these

What are your thoughts

Not to revive this, but an important point I failed to consider is that there’s a structurally important difference between bacterial cells and plant cells.

Namely, plant cells have cell walls made of cellulose and as such are significantly less flexible, and far more sensitive to freeze drying relative to bacteria because of this. I would think that a literally “fast-as-possible” approach to freezing, limited cycles (less sure of this, concern is stacking increasing size), and a slower thaw than one would prefer might help? Good luck to y’all investigating!
