I had pretty dismal results with the crx i used 1000 grams for a 5lb trim run, ran around -40 and compared to the 2 other medias, I used on the same strain it had the worst result, I got a nice yellow from w1, a decent yellow with a touch of orange with CC media, and I got almost brown with crx. Went slow on all 3.

I will dm you here in a few weeks when I’m back at the lab and if we want to give it another go, I will reach out and see if theres anything different I can do to get better results.

I was impressed with the W1 but unfortunately I haven’t had enough time to play with it to fully recommend them but from every thing I’ve read and my single test run of it comparing the 3 mixes I don’t think you can go wrong with it. I got really good results with subpar material but once i get 50-100 runs in with it I will have more info for the community,

I truly believe you guys just need to abandon the course grind media…

The course grind helps with
Loading the crc
Flow rate
And emptying the crc

But it’s also completely different from the media the rest of the community uses and requires a few rounds to figure out how to use it, all of which is expensive r&d

I’m not sure if a fine grind of your media is possible with the blend you’re using, but I think it should be considered

I hear you… you nailed the benefits. Honestly, that’s an ad, and a huge boost. And you’re pointing out the “market barriers” which are legitimate issues we’re facing. Worthy of a discussion tonight in our weekly meeting here.

Thing’s will be happening here. And the feedback and listening to you guys has been instrumental.

Give me a minute or two to noodle this.

What I will say is that the labs that have switched over to us, especially the bulk processors who are moving substantial volume have whole-sale adopted out media specifically because (as you pointed out) they did the R&D to get the process right using our media. And some lucked into it as well. But once they did switch, they’re never going back to powders.

I like the debate! It’s a good issue and we’ll talk about it here and I’ll report back what the thoughts are. :+1:

I would like to point out this part of your statement and propose a rebuttal: abandoning a product due to it being new and different than what the rest of the community uses, when we have seen great results, does not benefit the cannabis community at all, nor us. We will continue to listen to the community, troubleshoot with those that allow us to, and redevelop the SOP’s to be adjusted to anything new we find.

I absolutely agree, I misspoke

If I was you guys I would actively start working towards making a fine ground material to satisfy the wants of many. Yes the course grind is new and I’m sure it will find it’s place, but lots of us are going to turn to something that’s not costing us extra time and money.

The r&d is very expensive on our end, especially when having to rerun material because it came out dark. That being said, I’m going to be doing more r&d with the crx over the next week until it’s gone.

Please know I’m just being incredibly honest, I’m rooting for you guys!!

We have been going through and making adjustments to the SOP to make sure you are able to get the most out of your Media Bros Media. Here is the updated SOP which goes a little more into description about the best way to use this media.

Food for though…Might be too much solvent and therefore you are picking up way more than your desired fraction (ie fats, terps, etc as well as, rather than instead of, THCA+terps+d9). I find that for my material if I go above 4:1 lbs of solvent to lbs of biomass (or re-reun the column while it’s still up and not yet poured out) the result is goopy and doesn’t brittle, at best pull-n-snap. I find I have to limit the amount of solvent as too much is not ideal (without further processing, ugh… or maybe different crc media which has greater selectivity).
FWIW, I use T-41 on 5micron sintered disk without filter papers and it requires attention when cleaning between runs so I’m getting an ultrasonic cleaner to make cleaning the sintered disk easier and less time consuming.

1500 grams is ~3.3 lbs which (with 25 lbs of solvent) would be a ratio of approximately 7.5:1 that is close to double what I do or similar to my case of re-runing a column into the same soup mix (the soup, she has been spoiled). I would suggest running half that amount of solvent for said amount of material and see how it looks when it comes out. 3:1 might be a bit conservative so I go for no more than 4:1 in most cases.

I received a free sample which was quite generous, and put it right to use. First I added to my crc combination as a percentage (20%), increased it across multiple runs until at 100%. It’s flows nice, too fast at 100%. That it lets some small amounts of chlorophyll I’m guessing through. (Darkest in the pic) that didn’t seem to inhibit crystallization. All sample were ran with same parent material- wedding cake trimmer trim.

We suggest using a Solvent:Bio ratio of 6:1-10:1 for best results. As always, there are a seemingly infinite number of custom setups out there with mad scientists doing many different procedures. So we make our suggestions based on our findings, if someone finds a better way to put this stuff to use we want to hear about it and, even better, see the pictures if possible.
