Filters

What was the original extraction type? (Alcohol, bho, co2, etc)?

Cheap and effective for small volumes.

Bho for extraction

For winterization?

Yea, I use it as a pre filter for winterization. Helps out my flow rate.

Working that backwards:
6 gal = 22.5liters
10:1 solvent to extract => 2.25kg

Suggesting you started with 5lb of extract?

And then what? -20C? -40C? How long?

Have you read the Winterization thread?

-81c for 24 hours

Why 24 hours?

Just way it happened to work out. I read thread on winterazation did not have stuff to do like thread said so made what i had work

Im learning on the fly

Well you must have a great chiller, which is the most expensive part needed to winterize at scale.

Have a freezer that goes ÷86c

Will definitely hurt your ability to scale but it’s still a good solution

Im trying to figure it out as i go i have fresh frozen im getting ready to process this week trial n error hopefully goes ok

Was that 5lb of extract?

How often?

We’re running a 600mm sambo for winterization. Filters a 5gal bucket in 5-10min depending on fat content in starting crude…not a strategy I would spec, but it is getting the job done. #2 bag filters did not seem to work much better, but I wasn’t involved in that project and am not 100% convinced…I’m a fan of using a fuge instead.

(Putting a couple hundred gallons through the sambo most days…on my list to solve. Membranes or fuge…)

Yes i think so ender up with around 3l of distilate after pope

I dont know what a fuge is and i searched it to

Fuge is short for centrifuge. People use em to make extracting with etoh more economical.
