Full update on my experiment, the “shatter” fully dissolved in 99% isopropyl alc. With no agitation overnight. I am still convinced it was at least 60% tree resin just from having bitten it, and my experience with eating various tree resins (cherry, frankincense, myrrh, white pine, spruce, fir etc) and the fact that a tiny shard as small as a small dab held in my fingers for 5 minutes was still sharp at the end… I didn’t dab any personally but the person who did said it got them high but wasn’t as strong as it should have been.

Not saying its not. But ive made shatter that would hurt if you squeezed it on a sharp point and it never melted in your hand. Even took a bit on the nail to melt and made a tink sound when dropped in.

Was it made with co2? Because that’s what the label claimed it to be… Jc the details that lead to such a shatter. I’ve seen quite a bit come and go but have never seen something that hard. Any other details you can tell about that extract would be nice to compare

Could be crushed into a powder. Once its at that state it will start getting sticky unless its like 69f or colder.
To clarify i have made shatter with this level of stability many times for along time now. Dabs easily broke off main slab. Somewhat difficult to roll into a ball in your fingers.
Does yours share any of these qualities

I held a 0.02g approximately tiny shard for around 5 minutes pinched in my fingers and it was just as sharp after as before. When I bit it it basically crumbled to dust from one bite with my front teeth. Sounds like yours was stable, but still possible to roll into a ball in your fingers. This was not.

Not even kidding I think about this every day. I’m very anti-conspiracy but this is one of those things that make me wonder. What better way to short out the black market than artificially pump adulterants into the market? Especially when Canada is having such a hard time getting people to buy through their legal avenues. Oddly enough this pine resin issue seems to be overwhelmingly occurring in Canada. I don’t actually believe it but it’d make for a good story

Real “shatter” will shatter like glass. Or let’s say can shatter like glass. I’ve had some I personally made that wouldn’t stick to the dabber at all. High in thcA

I’m not experienced with co2 extraction at all personally, or with shatter being that texture where it was impossible to roll it in your fingers after several minutes of pinching it. They claim it is 82.6% THC and co2 extracted. Does that sound like it would fit those parameters? I’m actually curious now and am going to look up the melting temp of thca

I must be dumbass I never read co2… I’m sorry was a bho comment. Co2 extract and words shatter sometimes are hard to fit together.

Most folks extract decarbed biomass on a co2 unit so i don t believe it
Getting 80>% thc-a on a co2 unit is close to inposible

Fyi, thca can be efficiently recovered with co2 with over 90% potency. I’ve made diamonds and shatter personally, with scf co2.

So Lets say TAC. 92%
And about 4% terps
That leave 4% for fats and waxes and other compounds hmmm amazing
Very impressive not a normal sop on most rigs i know

To be clear, I’m talking post winterizing, no cr filtration. Proper winterizing should not leave you with those 4%. Additionally, shatter is closer to 1%or less in Terps. How you finish it’s taste is up to you. Remaining percentages are unknown cannabinoids, some of which also crystallize.
