F#$& the corporatocracy/pyrex pan caution

Would this work with regular n-hexane? I’ve never tried it and don’t have any glass rod (only thermowells). Pretty cool though!

Googlefu tells me boro is 1.51 and hexane is 1.37 so I could see a mixture being necessary.

What’s wild is looking at C3-C9 alkanes is that the refractive index is not as linear as one might think. It seems most hover around 1.3X instead of growing with the number of carbon bonds…

I use stainless steel 2 inch wide thin bakers spatulas for my stainless buffet pans. We dont “scrape” the pans, if there is something stuck to the pan then we introduce mild heat and it comes off easy.

For rounded corners and edges I use spatulas intended for sugar work and hard confectionery, they are cheaper than the pharma ones and are flexible PTFE
